NY chicken lover!!!!

I just finished blanching my brussel sprouts. Now I am enjoying watching my cat and dogs watch the chipmunk just outside the sliding glass door. I think the thing likes to taunt them and their reactions are funny.

I could post this elsewhere but I'll post it here.

I have a hen that is dragging her bum. She seems filled with fluid. She's and older hen and doesn't seem in pain. Anyone know what the problem is?

I was conserned about one of my girls not laying thinking she might egg bound and dragging rear was a sign of being backed up. Can you feel any eggs in her around vent area?

Rancher i googled "hen draging rear" and came up with a rew threats on here. Could be egg bound or internal laying or infection. Depending on her other symptoms you can find out wich. Or. Give har warm bath and put olive oil on vet to try and help rule out bound egg. A youtube video i watched the other day lady held rear of hen over steaming bowl of water to try and relax vent.

Keep us posted.

Dang Stony you are making me hungry with these pictures

What's funny is everyone is back up in the furthest part of the yard away from the house and I still heard his squeaky crow. But then again I'm a light sleeper, a pin could fall and I'd wake up.

I am a super light sleeper too. Wish I could be more like the hubby -- as soon as he's parallel, he's out and it's not easy to rouse him. I have one kid that's a very light sleeper like me and my younger one is a good, heavy sleeper like Dad.

Now THAT is something I'd like to dig in to. Mmmm-mmmm!

Rancher,

I am too much of a newbie to offer any advice for you regarding your hen. I just wanted to say I hope she is going to be OK.
