NY chicken lover!!!!

Here are the twins as wee ones -
I was working at my computer .a surprise
....My son brought the chicks in to me

Excuse my office .. a work in progress ...I am always working on a bunch of things

Oh Well... back to work ! with assistants ...LOL

Aria--Sorry I didn't realize my PMs weren't coming through. Our computer doesn't like BYC so much. It has been doing funny things like abruptly closing down and it sent a funky PM from JLaw that was a repeat of an old PM last week. The RIR birds hit a soft spot in me and I would like to help but we've downsized to be able to afford feed for what birds we have being I've been out of work since August.

Thanks Tab. If anyone on THIS forum would like or knows someone who is interested:
8 Rhode Island Reds hens 3 years old. They belong to a disabled woman who is
going to have surgery and can no longer care for them.

They were her pets and she is very attached to them and wants them to go to a good
home. Please PM me if you are interested. Regards, Aria

Is this your chicken ? it looks like it has a mane

Yes, this is my Lavender Orp pullet, Chumley (a.k.a. Chummy, Chumsters and Oven Roaster). She is just the SWEETEST bird. Not a mean or aggressive bone in her plump body and is a breeze to pick up and handle. Yes, she has luxurious feathers and that does look like a mane, Gramma! I got her from Marquisella in May.

Your chick twins are SO CUTE!!!!!! Your birds love you.

LYNZI - glad Chummy gave you a chuckle. She's good at that.

Meant to say this a couple of days ago, but I really enjoyed the recent pics you posted of your chickens and set-up. Super!!!

Advice Columnist, Miss Chumley-Chumster says...

Dear Lynzi,

There is likely an incident or two you can call up from your arsenal of "husband faux pas." Next, gently remind your mate of his past bumbles...which might encourage your human rooster to go a little easy on the scathing remarks regarding your little "oopsie" with the tractor. Crying also helps.

Good luck!

Chummy

I missed your original post Lynzi. I doubt what happened is a difficult fix. I've caught a few things in my time. Besides if you get someone else to fix it you deprive him of the opportunity of being your hero.

Reminding him of his faults is so un-lady like, Chummy. Unless he goes off on a tirade. Then you tell him Rancher says it's unmanly to criticize ones bride. After all to do so is to criticize himself and his choice in a wife. Crying is a bit much and only to be reserved for something major like burning the house down or totaling the car and it being your fault.

I hope things worked out well,

In other news the Del eggs are set. We shall see how things go.

Another plan is to order chicks from Paul Harter. Some Dels, NH's and BR's. Perhaps some Partridge rocks too. I don't really want them but perhaps someones else will and I don't need 25 of any one breed.

Dels are a composite breed of the BR's and NH's. So I may give it a go. I have to cull very hard to get the size I'm looking for in Dels.

Partridge rocks are also in need of help as they are on the small side. Unfortunately some of the heritage dual purpose breeds have lost ground to the more novelty breeds and colors. Too they lose ground to the show birds which IMO are like fashion models. Nice to look at but of little use.
