NY chicken lover!!!!

Heading to CT tomorrow morning with the kids. Called my mom this morning and she informed me that there was a bobcat on their deck this morning! Thank God my parents have a garage so store the three silkies I'll be picking up Saturday morning! Otherwise I might not have been bringing them home! :-/

Meant to say this a couple of days ago, but I really enjoyed the recent pics you posted of your chickens and set-up. Super!!!

Thank you! And I look forward to another advice column from Miss Chumley Chumster. She made my day!
You should think about writing a column like that for the community chickens newsletter! Or maybe BYC should make it a highlighted piece on the home page!

I need to buy at least four more hens. I'd prefer two who lay large brown eggs and two who lay large white eggs but I'd take all brown layers or all white layers. I don't care much about breed since I just need eggs! (Though I'd like more leghorns and barred rocks breed isn't important at this moment) I'm selling through my eggs every week and have more people at work asking to buy eggs.

Anyone have hens they want to sell who lay white or brown eggs?

Reminding him of his faults is so un-lady like, Chummy. Unless he goes off on a tirade. Then you tell him Rancher says it's unmanly to criticize ones bride. After all to do so is to criticize himself and his choice in a wife. Crying is a bit much and only to be reserved for something major like burning the house down or totaling the car and it being your fault.

Obviously, Rancher, Miss Chumley's Advice Column should be taken with a grain of salt. She is a sassy pullet.

LOL, thanks, I don't know where that came from!! It was getting late and I have been grossly sleep deprived. When I was looking at some pics of my chicks, there was something about Chum's expression that just looked like she wanted to talk....so her advice column was born. She may turn up again at some random time, who knows?

Well, my friend called a local wonderful lady who will meet with her tomorrow and let her choose a hen or two. So the lonely hen will have company soon. Thank you everyone.

Glasshen, She really wants them to all go to the same person. They are her
Pets. She writes, the come to her when she calls them. 7 of them are so intelligent\
and 1 is a little independent. Hope you understand. This really a sad story.
She has found someone to take care of them for a SHORT time. She would like
them to be settled in their new home before she leaves for surgery. I am sure
you understand. Aria

Brella, A disabled friend of mine has 8 Rhode Island Reds hens 3 years old.
She is having surgery and no longer can care for them. They are her pets
and wants them to go all together to a good home. FREE to a good home.

I don't know what colored eggs they lay. I do know they are very intelligent and
come when she calls them. If you are interested please PM me. Regards, Aria

HELP! I may or may not have a sick chicken. When I went out to shut up the coop for the night I have a chicken that is whisling when she breathes. I figured out that it is my BC maran hen. She just started to molt this week and has lost her feathers on the front of her neck. I don't think that has anything to do with her whisling? It sounds like when one of my kids have a stuffy nose and are sleeping sick snore whisling. I looked at her good she doesn't have any discharge and her head isn't puffy at all. Is this something that I should be worried about? Do I need to seperate her from the rest? Help me. So far I have had no problems and I've only had them for 6 months so I'm super new at this. They are more like my pets then anything so Iwant to make sure that they are okay...I'm the type of person that hate it when one of my house plants dies, I don't kow what I woule do if I lost one of my girls. I'm sure that she isn't going to die...but I have no idea..
