NY chicken lover!!!!

Picture time!

I broke up our pumpkin and gave it to the flock, they loved it!

This is my new EE, she absolutely loves Lady (the dog). If the dog is in the yard, the EE follows her as close as she can.
Lady got a venison bone yesterday (hubby finally got a deer) and the chickens were trying to steal it from her! I wish I had a video of it.
I think I know why ? Look she is the only one that matches her color

Called the NYS DOT and they're over there right now picking up that deer, so thanks to those who answered my question!

Set up my poultry netting today to keep the Orps fenced in. They should like it, it's bigger than their last fenced in area because I was able to use the house as part of the barrier...

More rabbit questions! 'My' rabbit is doing better. Drinking, eating the hay, and his head issues seem to be improving. I'd like to get him outside in something because being in the workshop seems to make him panicky. What do I need to make a proper outdoor enclosure for a rabbit that's predator proof and escape proof? Will it need an apron like a chicken run would to keep the rabbit in? Not that I think he'll be doing much digging in his current state.

All of my rabbits are housed in hutches, the ones from Tractor Supply actually that are listed at chicken coop/rabbit hutches. But again, for a wild rabbit? Yea you may want to get a run of some type if you plan on keeping this thing for a long time. Should have some sort of bottom/flooring if you don't want him to dig his way out. Is this handlable? I would picture a wild rabbit to be very spastic and crazy when in a cage...

He's actually not too bad, I don't know if that's the result of his head injury or what. I can get my hand very near him without him panicking, and when I touch him he moves away, but it's not like crazy panicking running and hopping all over throwing himself against the cage or anything. I'm keeping him until he heals, or if he's never quite right, yeah, he'll hang around, since no rehabbers would take him. What do you suggest on the ground to keep him in?

Well thats good then. As far as keeping it outdoors and in a run, I'm not sure I'd know what to recommend because my rabbits do not have runs. They just stay in their hutches. In the Spring/Summer I'll let them run around in the chicken yard inside the poultry netting but only while I supervise for a little while because this summer when I did that, two of my rabbits got loose and I was very lucky to catch them again. I would think it would be easier to keep this rabbit in a hutch with some hay, food and water than to go through the trouble this time of year in making some type of rabbit run. What do you have it in now? In the Spring, if you decide you're going to be holding onto it longer than expected, then I would try to come up with something that was predator proof OR just something he could be in during the day and placed back in a cage at night.

Right now he's in an indoor rabbit cage I had for brooding chicks. Perhaps for now I'll just build it an outdoor hutch and work on some sort of run in the spring.

Honestly it seems to make no difference ..whether the feed is under water or not .it doesnt smell any different either way ..no yeasty smell
If it is under water it needs to be drained more ...I found as I add more every day & stir it every day ..it still is in that fermented state
if I add a little more feed ..It comes to the top & I dont need to drain it ..I just scoop off the top ...

I went to Barski Brothers Farm Supply 3354 Depot Rd, Auburn, NY ‎ (315) 252-0761 ‎
