NY chicken lover!!!!

I plan on putting something for a floor come spring time. Right now I have some food bags under the straw to help. I'm not sure what I'm going to use, but I'll think of something. We have some tin left that I might use or I've been thinking about a heavy rubber mat like the ones for horse stalls, or the other option that I thought about is a wood floor with leftover tiles on it. It just needs to be something that can be washed. But now that I think about it I like the idea of the pavers, but I would have enough to make a big enough area that I can put the whol hut on...I like that idea. I'm going to be making some this summer for the walkway, I'm sure that I could make some more for the duck hut.

As for killing it..I don't have my gun yet. We planned on getting one with our tax return this year. All I have right now is a BB gun. The friend that let me borrow the trap was supposed to come and take care of it for me if I caught anything. The only reason that we went with the live trap is cause I didn't want to kill the stray cat.

I always eye up those rubber stall mats when I am at the feed store. But I have yet to come up with a good reason to buy one. Tho as a flow for a duck coop would def work. At least it won't rot and would clean easily, If it didn't look so tacky I would have a couple in my kitchen at each door to collect the water and mud peoples& dogs track in. But I prefer something I can throw in the washer to clean easily.

NO. You should not and cannot legally do that. You have to have an animal rehab licence to release animals from one place to another. Please don't even consider relocation of any wild life. They just come back to their own "territory"....meaning your back yard. If you don't want to kill it, don't live trap it....there are traps that will do the job for you. If no one will do it for you call the local police and ask them what you should do with a wild animal you trapped that is killing your livestock. They may come do it for you or tell you where to take it for "disposal".

Quote: $450 fine of you get caught releasing an animal without a permit. Killing it is free. btw. Get yourself a pellet gun. At least an actual 800fps. Preferably in .22 caliber. Wally world has such an animal for $99 right now. At close range or in a trap that will kill a possum.

With all this talk of ducks, I thought I would start off the new year by cooking and eating one, but I could not find one in the grocery store. Got a turkey instead. Man, I am disappointed........

I'm thinking it would be pretty hard to "get caught" releasing an animal after trapping it where we live out in the sticks. If I lived in a neighborhood and caught something and brought it to the park down the road I can see the risk in getting caught, but I've been to LuvMyChick's house and she lives out in the sticks like I do. I can't see her getting caught releasing it elsewhere. I agree, killing it would be a better solution, however I, like her, do not own a gun either.

Went to Lynzi's today to pick up our new duck! He is a beautiful blue runner that she got for me from ke5hde. I'm in love with him already. The kids were so excited untill the ride home when I told them that Sanjay died. I kept out all the details. They just know that he died and now we have our new one. Looks like dh will have his way and his name will be Remington TuffLips (from their favorite cartoon) I call him Remmy. Anyway after we got home I pulled out the duck hut and added a diffrent more secure door and a back so that nothing will be able to get into it. I have to fix the back cause as of right now the only way to get into it is through the duck door. I think that I'm going to move it to a diffrent area too. I'll finish the back tomorrow, but I know that it is alot safer then before. I managed to catch them both and put them in it...I'm sure that they will be safe in there. If not then I'm done! They seem to be getting along well. They had a few little spats after a few minutes, but have been good buddies ever sence...Now I need to get them some girlfriends! I'll get some better pictures tomorrow and one of my new Duck Hut.
Glad to see you a duck, I was wondering.

It sounds cruel but get something that the trap will fit all the way in and fill it up with water and drop it in then there is no noise and you can do it at home free

I dont think its just releasing. I'm not sure your aloud to transport them. Just because of people looking for spots to release.
