Rancher - Thank you for your vote of confidence.

Relocation isn't really an option. We own our house, most all of our family is here and dh has a really good job here. I'm sure that he could get a transfer if we wanted to, but we really like it here and don't want to move.

Have you tried the online path? Especially if it's only for 3 more classes? The other thing to consider are the private colleges. Have you contacted any of the IVY league schools? They offer free/no tuition for those making less than about $80,000/year, or if you are able to still go under your parents it's higher, $120,000.00 combined or something like that. We all go to private colleges, generally their scholarship funds are much more generous than state colleges and they often have excellent connections for job opportunities. Once one family member gets into a private college, they are an alumni and they have a little more pull in helping other family members get in to that private college "system". Funding can be a challenge but the higher ticket schools often have more arenas to draw from than state schools. The IVY's have some pretty successful alumni, so these alumni give back to their school, to make more successful alumni. My oldest asked me what I would want if he became successful. I told him to always remember who allowed him to develop that success and give back to the school, so that another student has the same chance that he did. Best of luck!

I went to SUNY Morisville and have finished my AS in Equine Science and Management with a specilation in Race Horse Management. I was working on getting my BA in Equine Breeding Management. I would have 3 semesters left of full time classes. To finish I have many "Barn" classes that I would need to complete some of which I would need to be available overnight. DH is a trucker and is gone during the week so I wouldn't be able to leave my little ones home alone over night. I'm also sure that I would have to take many clases over again since it has been 14 years since I left. I'm turning 35 this year and I don't think that my mom would want to pay for me now. (she still paying for my younger sisters). The bigest thing that is holding me back from going to any college again is the idea of taking on any more debt. DH and I have worked very hard the last few years to pay of all of our debt. The only real debt that we have now besides our monthly bills is our mortgage.

I'm not sure what I want to do when I grow up...

Does anyone know what breed of chicken that is on home page of this site under with the subject "Chicken Breeds" under it. I tried looking for it when I clicked on that part of the slide but I couldn't find it.

I think silver barnies. There's a couple people working on them but they really aren't ready for the masses. I think Greenfire had some on their site but they weren't cheap.

Last night was fun! And mostly because Ginny was being honored for her achievements and we were all happy for her and got boisterous. It was fun because it was a sort of oasis of good feelings!

We travelled a lot for hockey and lacrosse with my sons and I watched lots of parents attitudes toward alcohol and then formed my own. That is that I prefer to have a glass of wine at home, or even two on a wild evening. But I took parenting seriously, and also safety, and decided that when way from home it is best to have the wits I have in good working order. And I prefer to have a drink with those I know well, so home or maybe at the campsite when camping works for me. And I won the basket with the Rex Goliath wine, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and Rex is frequently found in my refrige now.

On spelling, I realize that a word I just don't seem to learn is the grain, alphalfa. That may or may not be correct. It was never on a spelling list. Perhaps Common Core should address that.

Have a nice day, everyone.
It was fun!! and I agree with the drinking. I was home safe and sound with all my BYC friends to converse with. I am sober now. Last night was enough for a while. Alfalfa is a hard one. I have a hard time with...calender and believe it or not, cockeral. (see cockeral) ok cockarel. ok cockerel. And I didn't even have to cheat and use spell

Some advice, please:
I have 14 chickens (5 roosters, 9 hens, all sebrights) and 5 guineas (unsure of the sex of the guineas, but I am guessing 3 males and two females). They are all about 18 weeks old. Their diet consists of carrots, broccoli, spinach leaves, cantaloupe, starter/grower, and corn mixed in the starter/grower. They have access to the starter/grower/corn 24/7 and get the other veggies 3 times a day.

I found my first egg today

and was wondering if I should switch over to layer/oyster shells, or just provide access to the oyster shells, or just keep the same diet.

Thanks for your input

I switch to layer when they start laying and offer oyster shell calcium as well, free choice.
