NY chicken lover!!!!

I haven't seen Duane mate Pearl since he was just starting to test his oats. When I got Pearl she was bigger than Duane, he was only 7-10 weeks old and he tried to chest bump her... Pearl jumped up onto his back and forced him to submit while she pecked at his head.

Interesting I got my roo at 6 months and it was a fairly smooth transition I think they liked the fact that he gave them lots of bugs. I did notice though my top hen pulling some of his tail feathers out she was just being a little you know what to him but finaly things settled down.

Top of the morning to you Pharm enjoy the pharmacy. It's not a major holiday so I don't work mondays yayy me! Though still looking for a second job 3rd shift.

I hope all is well.

Gonna go for a run, make zombie snowman if the wind settles down, and see my dad in the hospital. Shoveling is already done!!!

Have a good day the sun is quite nice today. I think the snow was put on this earth to make me work out harder!

That is so funny ! I really LOL ! I thought Silkies were docile aliens ! I guess he never forgot that !
Is Frenchie Duanes favorite or least favorite hen ?
those bald feathers spots look like Roo Spur Rakes ..We have a hen that has those & it is Luckys least favorite hen ..
He will chase her away from treats or food ..he still mates her ..but I think he is rougher as none of the other hens look like her

Frenchie had bald spots when I got her, but I have caught her a few times eating her own feathers, I have caught others pecking at her. I tried a Hen Saver for her but she was miserable and it wasn't helping much over the summer. I don't know if she was someone else's favorite before I got her or if it's a skin condition, or if she was eating a lot more feathers than I thought and I finally found a food that has everything her body wanted-- I'm just glad I don't have to worry about her getting sunburned anymore.

Morning!
Still no pips only eggs but they're still wiggling around in there so that's a good sign! Hopefully something happens today and they hatch tomorrow!

So exciting! I can't wait for my hatch. I am pretty sure I'm on day 16 but I screwed up and didn't save when I set them and didn't realize until several days in.

Well it's time for the truth to come out don't you say rancher???

My silkies informed me they are aliens but the are good ones. They are here to take out the pod people who have been plotting to take over the world for centuries. They informed me they invented the tin foil and later the hats to help protect they're thoughts from the pod people. Once a pod person gets in your head there's no escaping them.

They informed me that there are a few hints that someone is a pod person. If the person don't like silkies. If the person has raised garden beds. If they live where it's almost always a puddle some where. And one of the biggest things is if they refer to garden of peas.

They say they are silkies and only someone who's head is nothing but a vegetable could not like them. The raised garden beds are so they can have a hidden garden under it where they raise the pods. The need for puddles always around is because they are vegetables and always need water. They said the term good garden o' peas refers to the pods they are raising since they look like peas when starting out.

lol here is some of my family wearing our protective gear so rancher cant get us.

Ps don't mind the mess in the back ground we have been waging war on the cold and now it seems on pod people lol

Well I got 16 hatching eggs. I had 3 clears figure not bad seeing I get them even from my flock. Of those 13 that was fertile I got 13 chicks. Now to see how they turn out as they get older.

pharmchickmom When we purchased our Rental House we found the electric "put in the water" cylindar in the barn. Floyd says you can still purchase them. We have a grain store
near our summer cottage in Bouckville and they have all sorts of Chicken Stuff. The tub we keep the water in is large black plastic and they also have smaller ones we use for oyster
shells etc.

This Grain Store in Bouckville also carries Muck Boots which I wear always. I have the low
and medium high ones. They are super and last forever and are very reasonable.

Lynzi, SUPER. So happy to hear you have had success hatching. Of course you will have photos and more photos. Regards, Aria
