WOW. What an emotional day for y'all. I am so glad you were able to afford the pellet stove you wanted. And that someone in the world has stepped up to help you resolve some of your problems. (See, prayer works....cuz I am sure some of us have been praying for you and yours)

Keep sober....you want to be able to recognize the next time something wonderful happens and celebrate it...SOBER. (Not to meantion the extra money from not buying beer can be put in a can and used to buy pellets next year. Just remember not to feed those pellets to the chickens)

Have you ever seen the movie "Pay it Forward"? If you haven't you need to find a copy of it and watch it. I think it's a book too, but I am not sure on that. The movie has a powerful message that you will appriciate right now.

Those eggs will be just fine. Momma chickens get off the nest for up to 2 hours at a time (depends on outside temp how long they stay off....longer if they can find a babysitter. LOL) Looking forward to seeing pics of your chicks.
Yeah I saw the movie and I love it.

Well here's a nice pic to cheer all the short people up. Just be glad your not this short.

She got stuck getting feed out for the chicks lol.

Ditto that. One day at time.

I started to read the posts I missed this week and then gave up.

Yesterday I got stuck in the end of my driveway because it snowed so much while I was at work. I had to carry the baby in seat, diaper bag, purse, lunch box, and my pump through a foot of snow to the house while the older 2 girls walked with me. My 4yr old was like "Mommy this is hard!" Me " Sorry baby but I can't carry you too just keep putting one foot forward you can do it". DH got half the driveway cleared and then had problems with the snowblower. He was able to get the vehicles to the garage though. He's outside now clearing the rest of the driveway. We have a monster driveway.

whoa that is hard I 've seen your driveway. We're getting some snow but not mcuh. How are those girls diiong? My CR 's are laying again.

Made me giggle Cass :)

Bright side is, that with that much snow it is probably good you didn't tarp the run, might have collapsed.

Happened to me the first year. I built the run with 2x2's and had a flat top. I hear a crack and then the whole part of one end crashed down. Fortunately it stopped and didn't crush the birds. Next year I rebuilt the whole thing. Had to recut the back panels so there was a slope.

They are so pretty.  How many you got and what do you do with them?

I was hoping to get into showing but the Hollands I have weren't really show quality. I have one that is larger than all the rest and she is a female! Should be on the small side. So I use her as brood doe. She's had two litters so far, I kept the white colored one in the picture from her last litter. In hoping she stays small. The sable point (also pictured) is small so that's good. I'll breed her in the spring. The mini Satins I have are really nice quality and can probably be shown. I'll be breeding them this summer. Their droppings make greet fertilizer. Not that I have a garden or anything but I'll use them when planting this year.

Right now I have 4 holland lops, 2 of which are up for sale but no serious inquiries yet) I have 2 mini Satins, and an Angora that will be sold this month. Can't keep up with the grooming.

Hey all, I have a ? for you guys more expierenced than my self.

I have several EE's in my mixed layer flock they all have beards & puffy cheeks. I also have 2 Am roos in this flock. I have seen the rir/ red sexlinks picking the feathers out of the face of my Lave roo & the Lav EE hen. They don't bother with any of the other's faces. I had to move the Lav EE to a different pen and the Lav roo's face is now missing the beard & puffs. Any ideas ? I supplement their feed with black oil sunflower seed & hi-pro cat food. It's just these 2 birds.

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated

I noticed this too with my EE's. I think in my case it's just not enough room in the coop. I know their awake at 4 am and I would go out to let them out but fear the preds.

When I first got chickens my SLW's, GLW's and Aussies got picked on so much I just gave them away. Some breeds just don't mix well and some birds are just not nice. Others pick up their habits. If you can separate the offending birds I would do that.

I even had a BR roo who killed a couple of his girls. All BR's a but for some reason he did not like these two birds. They did not want to go in to the coop at night and me not knowing kept tossing her in and one morning there she was dead on the floor.

Another girl would go hide outside somewhere but show up each morning. I feared for her and just posted her to CL and gave her away. She had nasty scrapes on her side.

I tried the "no pick" sprays and they just didn't work. You could try some Blue Kote.

Now my Dels they accept anyone. I have two smaller Frizzle girls and they're just fine. In fact I've had to keep an EE or BM hen from going in with them. They just wanted to be in with the Dels. Young chicks or birds and no problem.

Okay so the Prince is coming for me to babysit. The girls are all going out for whatever a girls day is.

Went to the Market and bought two large bags of greens for the girls. Only $1 each. I toss some grit on top of it.

Talked with a girl from Sharon Springs and bought some Humus from her.

Lots of apples for sale. Got way to much sauce now. Sorry I talked some much.

Never did get an answer on how early a rooster can be moved to layer pellets. I don't intend to keep him but don't want to switch him over to soon.
