NY chicken lover!!!!

I noticed this too with my EE's. I think in my case it's just not enough room in the coop. I know their awake at 4 am and I would go out to let them out but fear the preds.

When I first got chickens my SLW's, GLW's and Aussies got picked on so much I just gave them away. Some breeds just don't mix well and some birds are just not nice. Others pick up their habits. If you can separate the offending birds I would do that.

I even had a BR roo who killed a couple of his girls. All BR's a but for some reason he did not like these two birds. They did not want to go in to the coop at night and me not knowing kept tossing her in and one morning there she was dead on the floor.

Another girl would go hide outside somewhere but show up each morning. I feared for her and just posted her to CL and gave her away. She had nasty scrapes on her side.

I tried the "no pick" sprays and they just didn't work. You could try some Blue Kote.

Now my Dels they accept anyone. I have two smaller Frizzle girls and they're just fine. In fact I've had to keep an EE or BM hen from going in with them. They just wanted to be in with the Dels. Young chicks or birds and no problem.

Thanks Rancher, the Lav roo isn't bloody. The girls are just pulling his feathers out & eating them

. And you know he's a big boy, but very mellow. I moved the lav EE hen, cause she's quite a bit smaller then the others and I didn't want things to get ugly.

I was hoping to get into showing but the Hollands I have weren't really show quality. I have one that is larger than all the rest and she is a female! Should be on the small side. So I use her as brood doe. She's had two litters so far, I kept the white colored one in the picture from her last litter. In hoping she stays small. The sable point (also pictured) is small so that's good. I'll breed her in the spring. The mini Satins I have are really nice quality and can probably be shown. I'll be breeding them this summer. Their droppings make greet fertilizer. Not that I have a garden or anything but I'll use them when planting this year.

Right now I have 4 holland lops, 2 of which are up for sale but no serious inquiries yet) I have 2 mini Satins, and an Angora that will be sold this month. Can't keep up with the grooming.

Where do you have them posted ? You do know I trade for manure don't you ? I have a garden and two compost piles. Usually I get horse manure but anything is good to mix in there.

I'm going to take a vote because I came across another coop that Iike for my Orps. Now keep in mind, these guys will be free ranging every day, so these coops will be a sleeping quarters only along with "shelter" from the rain, snow etc. Which one do you like better?

The first one, from CCOnly, is what the ducks are in right now. That was my first original coop that I started with and before I got the new larger coop, I had Gru and the 3 hens in there and there was plenty of space for each of them at night. Pictures are hard to go by an that's why I need opinions on the 1st one as well. Looks small in the pictures but the measurements are larger than the 2nd.

Ya they do that. Is a silver spangled Hamburg. Got from Meyer's have 2 of them I guess they kinda wild but I can pet them unlike my Leghorns can't get near

I had them on CL but the listing is probably a few pages back now. I have them on FB as well. I can start keeping some set aside for you when I do my "clean outs" under the coops. I usually just chuck it in the woods. LOL

I saw this and looking at the measurements one says it's 53" wide but the other picture shows the nest box and coop sizes and they don't add up to 53". I can't figure out how they got the 53" measurement.

I noticed the 2nd one has NO VENTALATION slots anywhere on it :-(

I recommend you bag it up for sale. I have no doubt there will be those who will pay for it. There is a yearly plant sale here in Fayetteville at one of the churches and they were selling horse manure for $5 a bag.

Even if you got $1 that's still better than tossing it away. Figure a brown paper grocery bag 3/4 full has got to hold about 5 lbs. I bet you you could do it.

I have friends who come here for chicken manure. They live in the city.
