Here's what I have http://www.gandermountain.com/modpe...g-Cat-1250-Air-Rifle-with-4x32-Scope&i=448842

There's no way I'm going to read all the posts i missed.

Marq,I love the Barbanters.

Lynzi, my blue is starting to show a few darker spots too.

Congrats to everyone with new chicks and ducklings. I have 2 batches going right now. The Rcom has 8 days left before hatching and the Genesis has duck eggs set last week with cochin and silkie eggs added to it today.

Morning all. Just read through two days worth of posts. Yesterday was nice and the silkies freeranged all morning and the terrorists all afternoon. I finally got downstairs and did some cleaning and rearranging and got the big wire dog crate set up for a brooder and the table positioned for a box as an extra brooder in case I need it. I will candle tomorrow to see how many eggs are developing. Hoping for a warm day the next two days as I want to bath my silkies and trim up bums for breeding. Have to give them a pedicure as well and take pics of the ones I am selling. I have a hen in the terrorist coop whose comb has a bluish/purple look to it. I was doing some reading and she may have tumors or something going on. She eats and goes out but also spends time in the coop roosting on the roosts. Her weight feels a little under but not terrible. I expect that I will find her dead one morning. After having lost a few over the years to unexplained death, one starts to recognize the signs that something isnt right. She spends her time with Twiggy, the hen I had in during christmas who was very underweight. Twiggy is doing well now but will always be the bottom hen. She gets handfed by dh and I when we go into the coop to fill the feeder or give treats. She eats as well but the other hens will drive her off if they are in the coop. I usually shoo them out the door so those two girls can eat in peace for a change. Gave the terrorists my squash skins yesterday with the seeds. Gone in 60 seconds! Well, maybe not that fast but pretty quick.

Squirrels are dealt with here by a high powered air rifle. One shot one kill. Same with chipmunks. Quick, quiet and no disturbance to the neighbors.

Love all the pics and dont forget pics of the new babies hatching. Pyxis, I expect pics of my grandchicks when they hatch!

Off to the pharm today. Hoping its a decent day. Mean people can stay home.

Pharm - good luck with the meanies hahaha! My blue splash maran laid her 1st egg Thursday and is making sounds like she may drop another today. Waiting for her 'orange popsicle' sister to lay her 1st - soon, fingers crossed! Gonna be nice out today, finish up the brooder, build new roosts, busy day ahead. So nice to be able to work outside without having frostbitten fingers!

Morning!
Another warm day here. Yesterday turned out to be a nice day for car shopping. Got home, everything was mud! Ugh I almost slipped in the yard twice. The whole back along the house is just a pool of water! I have to try to take care of that today. There are obviously some clogged up drains somewhere so the water is just sitting.

No new eggs. I put 4 Silkie eggs in the LG yesterday. They'll move to the Brinsea next week after everything is done hatching. **fingers crossed**

I'm kinda surprised the ducks aren't laying yet. Especially with the warmer weather we've had the last two days. Unless of course I let them out so early and they're laying elsewhere. That would stink. :-(

So weird...I let everyone this morning. Both coops (the ducks and Orps) have food. Where are they now? The Orps go over to the ducks' spot and eat, the ducks are over at the Orp coop trying to figure out how to get in. Silly birds. All the same food too.

Well, my little polish guy did not make it through the night, so sad he was so cute too.

I'm gonna go clean the other 6 then take some pics. Man they make a mess in just one day LOL. They had scramble eggs this morning and loved it, chasing each other around with it even though there was a whole plate full. I just went an looked they are all resting the 3 mottled java together and the 3 Brabanter together.. way too cute.

Nice pics of all the ducks and babies. Love the heart on the little duck! So glad we all have some milder weather for minute! Well you all got me thinking of air rifles now. Thats all I can be trusted with anyways.

I def have lots of little critters around here that will want my chickens and their foods...My neighbor went so far as to cut trees down to get rid of squirrels... dear god. We have woodchucks, fox, possum etc around too but I have dogs that run them off. We have coyotes as well but I have never seen them come out of the woods.

We are moving and I have 19 chicken I need to move. The house we are moving into does not have anything to move them into. We are moving right now. I need a easy temp plan for them and I can't think of anything. Thought maybe someone would have ideas. I'm also thinking about culling half my flock. But I also have baby's coming and in the bator. The move happened all of a sudden my neighbor offered to buy our house and at the same time my FIL asked us to buy his house and build him an in law apartment. So we are doing it. We have been staying in the new house and traveling everyday to care for our flock. I would use a dog house but feel like my chickens are going to hate it and I have to many. Thinking about just buying a shed and turning it into a coop or maybe buying a coop that's to small for now. I also have baby ducks coming. Any suggestions?

Desiree - check CL and see if anyone is getting rid a shed that isn't so huge it can be moved. It maybe like you said find one of those cheaper DIY shed kits at Home Depot or Lowes? 19 is a lot, I can't think of anything else large enough to hold that many temporarily. Hope something works out for you!

couple cattle panels attached to some 2x4s throw a few tarps over them and you have an easy coop thats temporary that you can make permament

Yes a shed and some temp fencing with T Posts if the ground is thaw enough. That sounds like a plan! Save you running back and forth and also give them good shelter.

They are very good layers, large white eggs, don't eat much, and depending some are calm if you raise them. The ones I got as adults were more flighty. They are rare, so I like that. They have the "devil" comb, a V, so good in winter,no frostbite. They are pretty hearty, from Holland.

Thanks for the info. Will u be selling any chicks from those birds? Perhaps may or June hatch? If so, I'm interested.
