NY chicken lover!!!!

I realize you're a bit aways but I have Delaware chicks and I believe one of them may be a frizzle.  If it's a roo he's yours.  I only keep the hens which hasn't been many cuz I can breed them to any other roo to get more.

I know their eggs when they lay cuz they're a bit smaller and the shell is smooth.  I have some eggs on the counter but am leaving in 12 day so can't start a hatch.  I'm hoping for some fathered by my Aruacana roo or an EE.

I would love it! Just let me know when you know and when weather permits I would drive out. Thank you. sue

So all along I've thought that my Barred Frizzle Olive Egger has been laying brown eggs. This week we have gotten 2 olive colored eggs. Way to go slacker, you only hatched last April.

I am very happy at the moment. Last year I set 200 eggs, of which about 150 were fertile. I was only hatching at about 30-40% all year, and attributed it to humidity. I drive an hour to work, so am gone over 11 hours every day.

My wife told me to get a new incubator, but not a cabinet, so I got a brisea with humidity pump. 34 fertile, 30 chicks.

The Final Five...

I do love the Brinsea, however I don't know how anyone could hatch 7 in there and wake up to 3 or more being able to move around in there after they hatch. I had to pull each one after the first two hatched because they kept knocking the other eggs around, getting in the way of others that were trying to hatch. They're all under a heat lamp drying. Loving this really light/white colored one:

Congrats they are so cute
Sorry been away a bit just reading a lot so I don't get on the computer when I do that. 240+ posts behind so wont be catching up much sadly. But I just saw this online.

Imagine an inflatable chicken coop 2 people can set up in an hour and use within 24 hours. Sturdy, strong, water proof, hard as a rock. It's 25sq meters inside. And its all yours for about 36k. Besides the price this is pretty cool thought some might like to just see it.

I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well that looked fun!

I just had my first chicks hatch this morning!!! So far so. It the first for me and my Silkie mama named Luna

Welcome and congrats!

Well I went to the garage and just as I thought, nothing wrong with my car besides the minor cosmetic stuff. And I cheered myself up with chicks! Tractor Supply had a good variety and mixed bantams, which is what I was most after. So I bought five bantams - I was going to get four but they only have five left and one wasn't looking so good so I took them all. The one that wasn't looking so good has improved some but I'm not yet really optimistic about it. The other four are bounding around happy and fine. I believe two are OEGBs. Not sure of the other three.

I also snagged a tetra tint pullet since I'd like some cream eggs and I hear that's what they lay. And they had barred rocks, so I grabbed four to try to make sex links down the road. I picked the four with the neatest head spots so we'll see if that method of sexing them actually works. Two of them I had to unpaste, and one that was pasty had its vent all pecked at so I had to break out the blue kote and now my fingers are purple.

And, for Mocha, I bought a pekin. I wanted her to have a little waterfowl friend when she was introduced to Lacie and the ducks. I picked a pekin because the eggs should be big enough that I won't confuse them with welshie eggs. The guy was nice enough to let me sex them until I found a girl, even though that's technically against the rules.

Here's a picture. Can you spot the goose in a sea of chicks? They love to crowd around and on top of her and it makes her happy:

Very cute!

OMG just came across this video one of my friends in CT posted! She was on the news (the one holding the little girl in the video) because the house across the street had 193 chickens inside of it! Yes, 193! This was in the town that borders my hometown in Ct.

OMGosh I have my first ever internal pip. I think lol. I have one egg moving a lot and I think I herd a peep. I only have 3 in. Today is day 23 and after my last batch ( 30 eggs no baby's ) I thought this bunch was a fail too. But now I have a bouncing egg

I hear ya! My Brabanter who was hatch last April hasn't laid yet as far as we know.

I cannot wait to get my ducks outside. Just need a couple of warmer days and I can possibly move them to the shed with the silkies. The older ducks may still trample them at this point.

Me either. Though I do have plans to build them a special coop. Temp I'll put them in with the chickens. I have no idea what I was thinking getting them this early.

Do you have Virus protection. If you do I also suggest a second defense by installing Spybot . It's free and you can run a scan and should often. You also should up date it weekly. A scan will allow you to delete add ons that may slow things down and interfere with other programs running.

Just google Spybot Search and Destroy. I would go to "Bleeping Computer" to learn more about it. Just go through the sites til you find the Bleeping computer site, after googling Spybot search and destroy.
