What breed of geese are they? OK, just read what they are....
I never really thought it was so uncommon for hens to go broody but every breed I've had has gone broody. I have one Sussex hen and she has gone broody more than once in a season. I struggle to not get a rooster for her. She's big and heavy. Which by the way is why I think the fox that snag her dropped her. Just to big to carry off. She's a very nice bird. If didn't have Dels or CR's I'd get more Sussex.Rancher you're so lucky, I wish I could get a broody hen (the reason I'm getting some Sussex later) I just want to watch a mama take care of chicks![]()
I have BO, RIR, EE's and a Brahma. Where do you get the wooden eggs? I have golf balls in mine right now.
Just ordered some on Amazon. $13.95 for 15, free shipping, should have them by Thursday.Got mine at Michel's Craft store. They weren't cheap, so I only got 5. The rest of the boxes have golf ball in them. They still all lay in the same nest box....wooden or golf they all lay where the first one decides is the "place of the day"....unless, of course, 2 need to lay at one time then the second hen lays in the top of the open bale of shavings at the side of the coop.
