Neighbors can be a real pain! I hope it all works out for you.

Hmmm, I'll have to look for the Egg producer pellets (Is that Agway?) I got mine just plain old layer, are the pellets better if you're hatching eggs? (Since I suck at it, I can use all the help I can get!) Do let us know if the vitamins help, I hate having to add anything to anything, which is why my rabbits don't get suppliments, I just never can remember to do it!

I think I got better results last year when I fed Purina layena vs the TS brand. And I got better results when they free ranged, the down side being that it was like an all you can eat buffet here! :O

I have about six duck eggs in the incubator that may be hatching soon (Yeah, I didn't write down the date) My broody duck only has three left under her, I figured out last night the male was pushing her off her nest to try and breed her and then I they ate her eggs.

I put wire around her last night. I need to PU a new flashlight or something to candle the eggs.

I am new at posting and just wanted to say "hi" to everyone.
I have been reading/learning/loving this site for several months now and really wanted to join in.

I live near Rochester NY but my husband and I both grew up in Liverpool. We have 8 sweet silly hens that are almost a year old ( 2 black Australorpes, 1 buff orp., 2 red sex links, 1 buff laced polish, 1 partridge cochin, and 1 golden laced wyandotte) and 5 new sooo cute 1 week old babies (1 rir, 1 barred plymouth rock, 1 white plymouth rock, and 2 white silkies)!!

I am hoping someday to add some EE's or Maran's and i THINK i could stop with a flock of maybe 17 or so...maybe lol. It is a little bit of work but so very worth it so far. Thanks to everyone who has been posting for making this such a great site!

Tab's chicken obsession :

I enjoyed the swap on saturday even though the buyer turnout wasn't that great. My girls loved playing with the other kids. Fiona woke up this morning and said "I want to go to the chicken show again mommy"

Mother's Day was going good at the Rochester zoo until we got a call that our fence was down and the horses were loose. Someone called the cops and 911. We received 6 calls telling us they were loose and that was it. I freaked. We're 2 hours away and I know they're scared from being chased by strangers. To top it off a neighbor I've never met was trash talking us to the sheriff. She said we don't take care of our animals because they were covered it burdock. The sheriff told my parents that if my horses get out again we can be sued and that we will probably be ticketed. They're going to check with our vet and farrier.

It bothers me that people judge you and haven't taken the time to know you. The neighbor has 2 horses so they know everything there is know. (sarcasm) My horses were in heat and I'm sure that was part of the problem.

The second half of Mother's Day was a nightmare. We left for home immediately, didn't stop to eat or anything. By the end of the night I was sick.

This is the sort of thing that happens to me!!! MY mare is an escape artist. We now double hook all barn/stall doors. She is no longer out with the guys because she will walk through the solar powered electric fence. The one we have near our house is a highly charged plug in fencer that she doesn't mess with. She is like that dinosaur in Jurassic park who regularly tests the fence for power. Good luck keeping your girls safe and make sure they are covered under your homeowner's insurance.
