NY chicken lover!!!!

That's cool! I thought they hatched all black! I would've guessed swedish with that white bib. Guess I need more duckling experience :) Perhaps I can be forgiven since I only raise one breed. Will they lay black eggs for you?

Thank you to everyone for your well wishes. I've been spending a lot of time with my birds because they make me happy so over the next few days I may natter on about them and post a ton of pictures. Hope you all don't mind!

Baking, so glad all the barred cochins made it okay, especially after the mix-up.

It's amazing how therapeutic watching chickens being chickens can be.

Pyxis, please do share photos and stories! I love chicken stories, I use them all the time on facebook, some of my friends and family seem to enjoy them, the others have probably just blocked me. But those stories would be well received, since the forum has already preselected for animal lover, chicken nuts!

Well it looks as though there are three of the BM's that are broody. It's fine I suppose, but what where to put them. Pretty soon every hen in that coop will be broody.

WENT to the market today. Bought another Rhubarb plant. I'm going to plant them in a different spot and see how they do. Got a couple of black tomato plansts. I don't start those, just some plum type.

Also bought a pint of Maple syrup. Remember folks Maples syrup makes a good gift when matched with your eggs and a bag of New Hope Mills pancake mix. All local and all NY friendly.

I like to go to the market for the social atmosphere. If I'm lucky I find someone to talk to. I did today. Wish they had more seating.

I just got back from the ER with my husband who I must say luck was on his side this morning. He went to work and slipped on oil, falling through a sheet of plate glass that was there to replace a window that was cracked, smacked his head on the concrete floor and blacked out, plus while falling backwards he grabbed a shelving unit that was full of metal pipes and pulled it down on himself. He ended up with a minor concussion, a separated shoulder, cracked rib and some cuts. He is lucky that he didn't get hurt worst. But got to love the stubborn man he came home and is out there now on the tractor tilling my garden up again.

I have a whole coop of broodies!! All county boy's cochins.. One of them keeps getting off the eggs and getting into the wrong box. Grr.

Had a hawk take out one of my naked necks today. Grr!! I got out there about 10 seconds too late - she was already dead. Not enough vegetation in the yard yet, although most of them ran into the coop like they should. I really need to get more NN eggs - I am down to just a few as it seems the preds get them first. :(

Poor guy!!! But he reminds me of my husband who, after breaking his leg in 2012, it was all I could do to keep him in his chair. I had to chase him down on the lawnmower, red casted leg sticking out to the side...lol! "DR. WONG SAID NOOOOOO!!!!"

Men!

My girls love to help with gardening!! The 'Boskelli Gardening Club' goes out every evening to wreak havoc on the bug/worm population

It's hard to lift the spade with a chicken perched on it!!
At one point he had a silkie on back of the seat perched up there. The minute he was done they all came swooping in looking for their feast.

Featherz sorry about the naked neck. I have only one broody right now and it is one of my silkies.
