NY chicken lover!!!!

Yikes! I'm glad it wasn't anything worse
Me too not only is he my husband he is my best friend.
Nutty - best to him for a quick recovery .... my mother's long term signif other just won't go the doctor unless is he is nary dead. I worry for him because I really really like him - he is a great person - so why won't he go ? I don't unless I have to due to insurance and money - but that is not his issue now as he is on medicare. Pyxis - like I said - I can pass up the peeps in a store - but knowing I could get my own .... I can't resist loaded you up with eggs from my dear pets !!!! DH is going to FLIPPPPPPPPPPppppppppppp if you are able to get all those to hatch out ! I'll meet you sometime this week to give you hay and leg bands ..... I see you even got the buff orp in there .... ha ha Maybe my first batch will hatch out before you add the next set of eggs .... :love I don't always comment - but I love the morning updates and all the other sharing ... so just know to all of you - I enjoy this site and all of you and you make my day - even if I don't respond to it all - love the pics
I am just as bad I don't go to the doctor until I am close to death and no it has nothing to do with insurance for me either as I have excellent insurance it is just pure stubbornness for me I figure it like this I have no time to be sick.
Morning All! Been busy busy this weekend. My mom and MIL are here along with my brother and his GF. They came up my daughters recital that was yesterday and are all heading home at some point today. I candled my duck eggs yesterday and all 5 have pipped internally. They had 5 days left! So I stopped the turner and let them be. This morning at 4 days left two have pipped and I can hear all sorts of cheeping! Crazy. Can't wait to see these litter duckers!
Baby ducks are so cute I ended up with 10 new ones that hatched this weekend.
11 days to go on the eggs in the bator. Don't know when Frenchy's eggs are due. Went out to close up last night and in the Marans coop there were THREE hens all packed into on nesting bucket! Which by the way does not allow for the moisture of their exhaling. I had to pull them all out all sitting on two eggs. I've been waiting to move them till nearer the deliver time of my special eggs. I may have to move them sooner if this keeps up. Plus I'll have plenty of broodies for the 24 eggs I'm expecting. I may just leave the one hen that is in there on eggs now as she is. Though she will have a few chicks I hope. I'll just wait til she hatches out as many I as I want and then pull the remaining eggs. Nutty - I don't know what you're buying if anything but you might want to wait.
Rancher I am ready and waiting for some of your birdies have plenty of space and my animals are one of the only reasons I work (and my shoe and purse habit LOL) hubby says it keeps me happy so he is fine with it, so yes girls I do have him trained well.
Here's my broodyfest.. yes, there's another nest box section but nooooooooooo.. that's three LF and two banties (one buff is UNDER the black one and seems to like it there) -- all in the tiny banty nestboxes.. All from County Boy .. :)
I have one broody right now it is one of my momma silkies she is sitting tight on 6 silkie eggs and she always does a great job hatching so will probably have silkie babies for the chickenstock if anyone is interested and silkie eggs too. All my silkies are show quality .

Good morning all, I put this on the chicken stock page also, hope I don't get red flagged, but I wanted to send out an invite to anyone that wants to go to the chickenstock and can't because of transportation issues. If you are on my way there, I have room for a couple of people. Just thought that would help. Any questions just PM me, or write it on here. :highfive:

The bator looks fantastic! How do u like ur brinsea?

I have a Brinsea Octagon 20 and I am starting to hate it. It holds perfect temp and humidity until about the 2-week mark, then the temp starts to go all over the place. When I go into lockdown and add more water the temp drops, but as the water evaporates and the humidity goes down a bit, the temp spikes way up. I just managed to hatch out 6 turkeys in it and it is a wonder the poor little things didn't bake or chill.

The incubator sits on the dining room table in the middle of the house and the room air is pretty stable. The styrofoam incubator does way better at holding the temp. Go figure. When the Brinsea sits empty it holds the temp like a rock, but add eggs and it gets all crazy. Maybe I just got a bad one.

How old is it is it possibly under warranty? If not still contact Brinsea they may do something for you even if it isn't I have found them great people to work with. None of my Brinseas do that and one of them I have the is Octagon 20 advanced one of the things I love about them is the fact that they do keep even temps and if opened they come back up to temp real quick.

I must edit to add that I do have a couple Styrofoam Hovabators 2 are the 1588 and the other is the 1602 they both keep great temps too but do take a little while to heat back up to temp but I get great hatches out of these too.

Actually I love all the incubators I have but my final goal is to get a cabinet incubator I now have to look around and see which one I want as hubby told me go ahead and get one. YAY!

Have you ever tried a dry hatch with it??

Lynzi, that's nuts that your ducks are so early! Was the temp running high? My ducks are in trouble and are going to get grounded to the run because they keep going away farther than I am comfortable with. I'm putting nine eggs in the incubator today since I've had lots of interest in ducklings.

That's interesting. The reason why I asked is bc I have read varying opinions of the brinseas. Seems like people either love them or hate them (tho usually more love). Anyone out there have/use the advance 20 w humidity pump? Seems crazy expensive, but if it works... & is next step after brinsea a cabinet bator? Thanks for all opinions!!!
