NY chicken lover!!!!

and now I find myself wanting a polish fizzle =)

Hehe that was funny - gotta love the animal videos.

Hawks are crazy around here. I only let my birds out if I'm outside doing something. Stupid hawks always scream and announce themselves, the gun is never too far away.

Same here!!! Well except for the gun part. We have turkey vultures flying around here I think. Those things are huge!! They scare me but I can't have guns out with a two year old running around

WARNING GRAPHIC PIC: This guy was after my chickens this morning, he won't be a problem anymore.
Congrats. He looks rather grey so I'm assuming he is still shedding his winter coat?
The one around me is all red maybe he old or grey fix mix?
I got sizzle eggs shipped from CA. The first time I ordered hatching eggs I did let them set for 24hrs. This time I completely forgot but when I emailed another sizzle breeder she said she never let's them sit because she just can't wait lol said she never had an issue with the eggs hatching. So bad mistake on my end I guess. I can just hope for the best with these 7.
I was going to say I heard set for 24 hr then put in incubator with out turning for a week

I didn't read a week, although these pretty much sat a week without being turned. I read they should reattach within 36-48 hours. I don't think I'll waste the money on shipped eggs again, especially the money I spent on these. If I get at least 3 to hatch I will have gotten my money's worth.

Evening all. Came home to find dh toddler sitting. He left the terrorists in and let the brats/monsters out. They were having a wonderful time. The terrorists were mad that they had to stay in. The littles were cute running around the lawn. My silkies were fine with staying in and went to bed early. Have a good evening everyone!

Out of 23 eggs 7 are developing.

Guess I should be happy with what I've got. That's the last time I spend $$$ on hatching eggs. This happened the last time I got eggs shipped to me, half never reattached their air cells and those never developed. I really hope these 7 hatch so I can at least say I got my moneys worth.

Love the new Do ! is that a polish ? ( Avatar )

Fox is one reason I wouldn't think of free ranging birds here. The other is the constant threat from Red Tailed Hawks. Can't go into one of our hay fields without seeing one.Seeing a Cooper's Hawk taking a pigeon right from the end of the feed alley is one thing; not sure if a Red-tailed would attempt a full grown hen and I will try and not find out first hand.

They do ..They will take a smaller chicken if there is one ..They cant carry away a full size hen ..But they can kill them
