NY chicken lover!!!!

Made the mistake of watching our rooster and our picked on hen butchered today. I'm not sure I'll ever recover. :-( Nobody warned me they can JUMP without a head!!!!

On the plus side, I did add two BCM pullets to my flock from that lady in Canandaigua (she wouldn't sell me any eggs...grrrrr). So I have a BCM cockerel and two pullets...and hopefully next spring I can start breeding those. Just for fun for now...while I learn.

oh my Sally, I bought my boarder collie because he was suppose to have been a pure breed Australian Shepard. Inbreed ball of fur had my heart when we layed eyes on each other. Then the lady jacked the price up after I gave her a deposit. Love the heck out that two hundred dollar mute even if does wake me up at 5:30 in the morning. If you still looking for bc with strong herding instance google Flat Creek boarder collies they took in 20 plus dogs rescued from them this winter. Hope the driver stopped when he hit him, don't know what hurts worse loosing companion or callousness of driver not stopping.

Pharm if you want go to the show tomorrow I can grab a wheelchair wheel you around (then I wouldn't have to do laundry -)
No, we aren't looking for another dog at this time. the 2 we have are older, the cocker can't see well or hear at all and the aussie is having arthritic issues and doesn't hear well either. We talk that when we lose one, then we'll replace it with a younger rescue. And no, no one stopped. The dog was smeared all over the road, it was awful. dh had already left for work. I figured that hitting a 45 pound dog going that fast to do that much damaged probably did something to their car.

I'm hatching frizzles i got from tab. It seems like they normally have a frizzle floating around some where. I bought a barred frizzle from during the chicken stock.

Depending on how my hatch goes i may have some for sale. I would need to wait and see how many actually turn out to be frizzles.
I would be so appreciative. I'll check back with you and thanks so much.
@Sally8 if he has some when I come down in August I can bring them with me :)
Thanks, that would be wonderful.

I haven't been able to read to catch up. I'm off to bed being I've been up since 1am. I think we're going to the chicken show tomorrow.

Hope everyone is doing ok

AWWW they are both adorable but I think the top one is more adorable. I want one of them kittens.

Last week I posted about a power outage and being worried about the hatching eggs I got at the picnic. I got some encouragement here and thank you for that! I just candled all the eggs for the second time and it looks like almost all of them are alive and well. I am amazed that they are all still going after the hot weather and high humidity, the storms, power outages, and incubator taking a few temp swings. Those must be some very healthy breeding flocks with vigorous eggs. There were a couple that were iffy because the shells were too thick or dark to see very well.

How is everyone else doing with their hatching eggs? I would love to get a roll call on how you are all progressing. It's like a chickenstock hatchalong. We're going to see a lot of baby pictures in a week, right?

I did a quick candle tonight on my eggs, but I'm a week behind you guys. Got the bator at Chickenstock and set 30 (!) of my mixed eggs in. It appears that they all have nice veining, one was off and I may check some YouTube videos tomorrow to figure out what I shouldn't be seeing. No clears. Otherwise, I may have 29 chicks hatching in 2 weeks. Original plan was to set 18.... Oops.

ooppps I guess we thought everyone knew that ?
Havent you every heard the saying " running around like a chicken without a head ?"

Leaving in a bit for the chicken show in Syracuse. Set my alarm for 5:30am cause I didn't do anything yesterday to get ready, & woke up at 5am and couldn't go back to sleep. So if any of you come to the show, and see someone sleeping at the picnic table, it will probably be me!

The idea of going to the show & entering chickens is always better, than the actual day that I have to get ready for it....sigh.

So, is anyone going to meet there? What time did I say? I think noon at the picnic tables between the Chinese auction and the sales cages. North side of building.

If I"m not there, I'll be hanging around the sales cages.

Gramma-- Yup there was 2 Siamese. My sitter brought them home with her on Friday

Nutty-- We have 5 kitties left. I'm letting the girls each pick one to stay, my friend and neighbor have expressed interest in wanting one. I will touch base and see if they still are.

I've been treating them for the eye gook and have given them one dose of liquid wormer. I have one that still is bottle feeding. My inlaws have feral cats in their barn and we couldn't catch the mother with them.

Sue-- We'll be coming to the show a little later than start being we're not showing any birds.
