NY chicken lover!!!!

Placed an order for 8 birds last week, they shipped from mypetchicken (from meyer) on monday, and they've been stuck in cleveland ohio ever since. The post office won't answer the phone, and this is the second time this exact same thing has happened to me. Really frustrated because I was supposed to have them yesterday and they are still in cleveland today. Hope i don't end up with dead birds from this. Last time I'm ordering from my petchicken, and probably going to avoid meyer because I don't know who's making the mistake.

Theyve had the same bad weather weve had, there may be a delay because of it.

sorry to hear that..hope they get them there soon and in good shape..

i would get my money back if they are dead and go some were else ..cackle hatchery is a good one .theres tons of other hatcherys...i no its all a flip of the coin..but maybe if you let them know how you feel by telling them you'll take your business else were ..just my thoughts on this..its very painful to open the box and find dead baby chicks..

Another storm coming through now.

My prayers are with those in Smithfield who lost so much.  4 died from the tornado yesterday, a mother and her 4 month old baby girl were 2 of them.  It's heartbreaking.  I hug my girls everyday and tell them I love them.  You never know what life is going to throw at you.

Hope everyone  here is doing ok with these storms that have been happening lately.

The mom and baby were family to a friend of mine. One of the other 2 dead was also from that family - either an aunt or the babies grandma. My friend is in shock so it was hard to understand him.
I always cry and pray for the people in situations like this - this one just hit a lot closer than normal

Hey everyone it's been quite a few months since I've been on life is crazy like that.

I finally got my Muscovy ducks.

My garden is insane, I started an aquaponics system and I'm working on building a greenhouse.

I will post some pictures soon.

Take care!

When I was just married I TRIED to cook lentils in a pressure cooker...given to me
for a wedding present. EXPLOSION was the result and lentils went all over the
ceiling and all around the kitchen area.

I gave the pressure cooker away. DON'T USE PRESSURE TO COOK.
REGARDS, Aria
Beans are about the only food you cannot cook in a pressure cooker. My directions warned against it.

DH is planning on taking some young stock to auction on sunday. We have quite a few roos and a hand full of straight comb mix breed pullets if anyone is interested before they go. The roosters are free (mix breed, frizzle , Delaware). Started pullets would be $5 each.

Evening all,
Well it's official, DH signed his offer letter today and we are moving to MA. Well, actually I'm finding a lot of houses on the very top east corner of CT that are in our price range and have the land we want. It will be a hour commute for him but he's ok with that. He interviewed for a job in Binghamton up here and that would have been an hour. So we may end up living back in CT. I hope I can still come here to the NY thread and chat with you all even though I won't be a "NY'er".

I'm upset, stressed, and a little excited all at the same time. I just hope we can find something that will allow me to have my cheeps back with me. If not, I'll be looking to rent short term and buy within the next year so that I CAN have them back. ke5hde and his wife have been so kind as to take care of them for me until I can come back to get them. That was a huge relief for me because I really am not ready to give them up. It's also nice knowing that someone who already knows about chickens will taking care of them.
these next few weeks are going to get busy very quickly. I probably won't be on much. I'm still waiting for 4 more eggs to hatch! Geez, hope I don't forget about them! Hope everyone is well!!!

Good luck. Just think, you will be closer to one of the bigger poultry shows in Springfield, MA in January...

Wanted to say that the male Khaki has molted and has grown some beautiful brown laced feahters and has gotten darker all over...I'll try to take pics if I remember to take out my phone in the morning...the 2 girls are sitting on eggs...yea!

I forgot to mention, we caught the raccoon!!!!! Neither DH or I have been able to sleep, for obvious reasons, and well he got up again at 4am this morning and went to the couch. He wasn't up 30 mins before he heard some rattling in the trap outside. It's been set for 3-4 days now with nothing getting caught in it. He went out there and took care of it before any of us got up. We're setting it tonight again in case there are more.

pretty sure if you live in one state and work in another you end up paying income tax in both states. When I lived in CT a guy i worked with was living in NY and paid alot more in taxes than the rest of us.
So far the post office hasn't changed the location of my birds, the local guy was on the phone trying to find out what was going on for me this morning. Mypetchicken was all like it was normal, and when I explained that my birds who were supposed to arrive in 24 hours were not guaranteed to be there in 72 told me to make sure I gave them something to drink when I got them. I wanted to say no ****, I figured I'd deny them water longer for kicks. I'm pretty upset, and even if all my birds arrive fine I'll never do business with them or meyer again because meyers the ones who shipped them.
