Have some new baby chicks hatching!!! My broodies are doing a great job. Came out thins morning to find 2 chicks out already and 2 more with there little beaks sticking out. There is one sizzle and 1 silver laced bantam cochin. with 2 more to go. My other broody has 3 eggs that should be hatching with in the next few days too! Very exciting!

The rest of the chickens aren't happy that they aren't getting out today. We have been in and out all day and on our way out again in a few minutes. The DeRuyter Fair is this weekend and it has been busy.

Update: Just got home. Cam e home early so that I could let the kids out to play for a few hours...Checked the chicks progress and the 4 have all hatched...OMG they are soooooo cute. 1 black sizzle (I pray will have curl feathers) and 3 of the smallest chicks I have ever seen...3 little silver laced cochin Bantams... They are all for sale if anyone is interested... I have 3 more to go in the next few days... I'll take some pictures soon!

Sure but it would be a big big zoo and better for the animals. We should do what's best for them.
not to be a stinky..but whats best for them would be to live in their natural home land ..free to roam and live the way god intended it to be ..i no i have chickens pend up and am feeling kind of like a hypocrit right now ..but i am not keeping a elephant in a cage with a chain around its leg ..and having it live in a small confindment..some of those animals would have hundreds of miles to roam and would use every inch of it too..
i just seen a elephant attack a zoo keeper on tv ..i guess the part were they punish the animal for a mistake made by the human and could be prevented if just another minute of thought was put into it ..the animals wouldnt have attacked ..but then if the animal was in its homeland free , then the whole attack would never have happen..

No, they would have been eatten by something. Or poached and killed for valuable parts, left to rot in the hot sun. Or left to die from starvation due to dwindling water supply or being an orphan. Life in the wild isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Zoos are no longer allowed to gather animals from the wild. The ones you see in zoos now are bred in captivity and are safer there than in the wild. No predators, medical treatment, consistant food, etc. Zoo animals don't have a bad life....just different than their wild cousins. And more of them survive infancy than wild bred animals.

but thats the way its suppost to be ..its why theres a food chain ..its not pretty but its the way it all was to begin with ..atleast till man started to medal in the lives of these animals ..i seen were they say orca whales that are in seaworld and places like that ..have dorsel fins that flop and dont stand up straight and its due to being in captivity..even the ones that are born in these places show these same traites..its truely a live and let die world.

i beleave those tigars that attacked the zigfree and roy guy was born in captivity..

i do agree that regulations on animals rights have come along way but theres still a huge hill in front of it to climb..
