No, they would have been eatten by something. Or poached and killed for valuable parts, left to rot in the hot sun. Or left to die from starvation due to dwindling water supply or being an orphan. Life in the wild isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Zoos are no longer allowed to gather animals from the wild. The ones you see in zoos now are bred in captivity and are safer there than in the wild. No predators, medical treatment, consistant food, etc. Zoo animals don't have a bad life....just different than their wild cousins. And more of them survive infancy than wild bred animals.
I'm not sorry to agree with Cass. The Unicorn Rhino will be extinct if we don't intervene on their behalf against other humans who see no value to them.
but thats the way its suppost to be ..its why theres a food chain ..its not pretty but its the way it all was to begin with ..atleast till man started to medal in the lives of these animals ..i seen were they say orca whales that are in seaworld and places like that ..have dorsel fins that flop and dont stand up straight and its due to being in captivity..even the ones that are born in these places show these same traites..its truely a live and let die world.
i beleave those tigars that attacked the zigfree and roy guy was born in captivity..
i do agree that regulations on animals rights have come along way but theres still a huge hill in front of it to climb..
Here at our Burnett park zoo some animals have quite a bit of space to roam. You have to strain to see some of them in the wooded area they have.
While our elephants get to be petted, we did lose a baby to a stupid accident, a few years back and everyone was up in arms.
The Montgomery zoo is much larger.
Keep in mind there are private owners of wild animals who do much more harm than zoos.
Afraid that this conversation will get out of hand I'm going to drop the subject of zoos. I don't want to get in trouble.
