An EE, what looks like a roo too. I heard the Frizzle crowing or at least trying too. What is in the pen with him?
I don't know why but my birds seem to mature fast.

some friends had invited me and the wife out on their boat for a slow cruise threw the outlet on chautauqua lake the other day ..we spotted a white heron ..it was pure white ..we couldnt get close enough to get any pics ..it seem to avoide us as much as possible ..i figure with it be so white it has to hide alot to stay alive ..very pretty tho ..we seen some of the small herons as well ..i beleive they are the green ones you are talking about ..atleast thats what my buddy was calling them ..as we came back out of the outlet we saw some cammerons ..[i no nice spelling right ] the ones that dive in the water ..anyways the whole north side of the lake the trees were covered with them ..there must have been thousands of them ..i guess their poo is killing all the trees along the lake there ..i grew up here as a kid , we never had any of those around back then ..but then i never seen any bald eagles as kid around here either but theres a few pair of them around now ..Thanks to Cass for answering your question. I just saw your question now, sorry boskelli...
I can possibly help you with the new call you're hearing from the woods; if you can get a sound clip, let me know. It's like "Name That Tune" and will be a challenge. No earth shattering sightings here, either, but there's still time. Green herons are always a thrill to see. Love the Kingfisher's brassy rattle!

i do as well ..but i am taking them down now ..my mom said to make chilla sauce out of them ..she has a great recipe ..i think its really called chilli sauce but she always called it chilla suace..no matter what ya call it i still say yummmm..lolI have a bunch of green tomatoes as well & the plants are still blooming. I am going to give it a few days after the rain passes and see of they ripen any. You could always make a green tomato relish with them to can. Lots of recipes online. Usually they need the heat to ripen but I just picked some cherry tomatoes yesterday that were ripe

Where we fish in the Thousand Islands the Comorants are everywhere. I was told that the DEC is keeping track of their growth because they are taking over the Loons area and because they can dive so deep are eating all the small fish making less fish available for fishingCormorants - snake like neck and those birds can dive DEEP ! Beautiful birds to watch - but invasive now.
Yeah, they are all over the south - but have invaded here now .... Vermont addles their eggs so the reproduction rate is slowed - and still they go crazy.
