NY chicken lover!!!!

Rant: I hate my Amish neighbors. Their kids are a bunch of @holes. My chickens were ranging in the field across the road, so the kids decided to chase them. When I yelled to leave the chickens alone, I get yelled at by a bunch of kids. Seriously hope they move sooner rather than later and non-Amish buy the property. So many unkind words in my brain.... > Going to send hubby up when he gets home, because I just cannot be nice to them anymore. Too bad I can't shoot them like any other nuisance. Disrespectful, rotten... *grumble grumble*

ha! so the Amish have bad manners too ?

I don't know why kids like to CHASE chickens - hold them, follow them ... sure ... but I had kids over at my place to "dog sit" and they started in on that too - fortunately - they are very well mannered kiddos and stopped at once .. but still ??? Why not lean down and try to entice one to come over for a pet ? Why Chase? But then to mouth off at you ? Wow.

Well - I say - send hubby over - because so many of us have to suffer neighbors with no manners.

I am still sore at the guy whose dog killed 2 of mine - and promised to do something and has not ... at least the dog has not gotten out again. That has been a long time now - so he knows the dog had its one chance here.

Well now hate is a strong word. Have you talked to their parents? Remember "good fences, make good neighbors".

I never consider Amish anymore magnanimous than any other folks. As for kids, "foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him".

Though that's only other peoples kids. Mine are just angels.

Howdy all. Rainy, raw day. Almost froze at Lowe's getting dirt for my plants. Planning them in grow tubs tomorrow morning.

My reds and sexlinks chick's are growing fast and destroying the brooder every day. I swear they do it to drive me crazy. At least they aren't escaping anymore since Dh beefed up security. Some of their parents came by for a look see and weren't impressed. They were, however, happy to clean up all the chick crumbles dust I dumped out of the feeder. Priorities I guess.

Welcome to all the newbies. Nice to have more people in house. Good luck to those of you hatching. Patience is key. Always allow them a few more days than the 21 everyone says.

Brats are raising a ruckus downstairs so I better go see what they are up to! Have a good evening all.

We have had repeated incidents with their kids, dogs, ect destroying our property, harassing our horses, killed 3 chickens over the past 2 years. And they have 10-11 kids, so the oldest is at least 12. Isn't like little kids chasing out of curiosity, they do it for fun and harassment.
Marine veteran friend said paint gun, sounds like a good idea to me! Lol

There is an unauthorized party going on in the brooder in the cellar. I can hear them all the way up here! BAD FUZZYBUTTS! Kids these days just don't listen. It's bedtime for Petes sake!

I think it was some sort of fuzzy event. Mine just settled down about an hour ago! In my case though, they had outgrown their brooder bucket and I moved them to the grow out pen. They were all toasty under the heat lamp, but were used to seeing me next to them, and not the six teenage ducks on the other side of the divider just sitting there in a line.... Staring at them... Frankly, I'd be a bit unnerved too, but they will appreciate the space once they get used to the peanut gallery across the way!
