Hey everyone! I got turned in for the chickens

My kids are crying and they have to be gone within 7 days. I have 3 layers, 1 production red, 1 amberlink, and 1 singlecomb brown leghorn. I also have 8 chicks from Rancher that are about 6 weeks old, crosses one frizzeled cross that I think is a roo. Please pm me if your interested, I have put them on craigslist too.

Well Codymax you need to see if you can get a variance or things changed so you can keep your chickens. Of course you will have to file the paper work and all that but if you want to change things you must. There is plenty of information on do this. Unfortunately it will have to be you who takes up the cause of Urban chicken keepers everywhere.

If you apply for a varience right away, will they let you keep them until its resolved? I think there is a thread here on how to get the laws changed.

Thanks everyone!! But for now I don't have the time or $ to deal with this

Seems to me it would take just as much energy and time to do something like this than file the paper work for a variance which may be possible to do online. Or a phone call for the forms. Sure your angry but ask yourself this, is this how you would recommend someone else deal with this? Not to mention the example you want to set for your children?

Seems to me you took a risk and lost. Sad yes, but not unexpected in Liverpool. I grew up there and seems to me no one there was ever very nice.

Take care,

Rancher

That really stinks.

Are you in a subdivision with neighbors close by?

Hmmm, early morning lawnmowing? If they're one of those manicured lawn folks (apologies if you are too) then nothing will make them more insane than dandelions. Lots and lots of them.

Go get a variance and then go get a whole bunch of Roosters. Or go get that variance (make sure it says any poultry) and then go get Guineas. Or Call ducks. Plunk their coop as close as you can get it to their bedroom. Because you know what they say about Revenge, something about its best as a dish served cold (or was that hot?) My hubby tells me I'm vindictive tho and I don't ever forget a slight, lol

Where would one apply for a varience? At the town hall?

A simple check on line for the town or county should give the information. You didn't say who sent you the notice the chickens had to go.

Anyhow you should find all the information you need on zoning and ordinances and variances and all that on the town web site.

It also wouldn't hurt to research on those who've fought this battle elsewhere so when you go before the board, if need be, then you are armed with the right information.

Hope all works else,

Rancher
