NY chicken lover!!!!

It looks like my little lavender orpington is a cockerel. I'm pretty sure he thinks the silkies are his parents and they always let him hang out with them. He is about 6 weeks now. I'd love to keep him, but my neighbors wouldn't appreciate the noise of a rooster. I know there are rooster collars...but I'm not sure how those work and if they bother the chickens. So, if anyone is interested in this little guy PM me.

So im trying to figure out what to do with my silkie roosters. My cousin gave me 2 silkies and both turned out to be boys. So i received some unwanted silkies which as far as i can tell are 2 girls and one boy. Im not sure what i will do with these roosters. I cant give the ones my cousin gave me away. One is a splash and the other charcoal color. The other one im not really attached to...so thoughts on what to do with him?

Well if you were closer I'd consider it. I could stick him in with my EE's and add to the gene pool. Or with my frizzle girl.

I had orps there very nice.

MY DH is always sawing something ...that stuff sure gets around &  tracks in ...where you able to convince him to move outside ?

The ducks and chickens are ok. The guineas liked to travel farther out from the barn. I asked DH to next time saw out on the deck. I will have to wait and see how it goes.

Rancher--My neighbor is contacting R cats, a program out of Rome. I'm still waiting to hear back from her.

High all you new comers. It took you long enough.

Someday, I'm going to make it a summer thing to travel and see how many BYC NY members I can visit. Do we have a census on how many are on here?

I sent a post card to JLaw addressed to just his city but I/ we've not heard from him. I didn't include my return address. The next one will and that will tell me if he got it or not.

Someone just asked me how many I had. I said chicken people don't count chickens. I say about 40 but there may be more or less. I just don't talk about how many then DW doesn't worry.

I find 40 chickens to be a very manageable number. People who don't have chickens think it's a lot, but it's not like having 40 cats or 40 dogs or 40 children, yikes. Now having 16 roosters is a little much, but I'm working on that.

Welcome to all the newbies! Anyone need a rooster? :D

Is that one of the cemanis you hatched from the other eggs you bought? Pretty but yowza, that's a lot of white leakage if so. And a white earlobe too. Lol I hope that's a cross you bred yourself!
