Hello everyone!

Hello chiickenychick, welcome to the club!
My cat has finally become a real cat. She came upstairs wire a dead mouse. She has finally killed her first mouse, in the house. She is an indoor cat. She walked around meowing with it in her mouth and kept showing me. I had to praise her, then dispose of the body. She is now laying here quite pleased with herself.

I use the turkey pellets as they have the highest protein content. The cheeps seem to be doing well on it.

Mean people are out in force lately. Been working double time getting stuff done. Thank goodness I am off the next two days. Need some serious chicken therapy.

Yay!!!Finally finished canning 13 quarts of tomatoes. I started around 1 but also had 5 kids running around and dinner to make. Now it's time to relax as I plot my adventure for tomorrow. Coop cleaning yippee! !

I only skipped because the only answer I have is a last resort one. I honestly have never dealt with a sick chick. I lost 2 in the very beginning but they were ok the night before and gone in the am. I feel it better to end the suffering that's why I kept to myself. I apologize if we made you feel ignored.

Hey Lisa , Im not skipping you ..Ive been to the fair .....I need more info ...age of the chicken ?

I have a very sick chicken. She has little to no appetite does not drink much and is as light as a feather.
This is not good news..Honestly
Usually when they are like this they have something seriously wrong with them ..and cant be helped ..
I have given dieing chickens a little whiskey to help them relax & pass .
Some kill them & put them out of their misery ...I could never do this ..

I'm not sure if I should take her to the vet who is 1.5 hours away?

Most Vets dont know anything about chickens

I hope you don't take it personally when you don't get answers in here (it seems like you might be). It doesn't mean we are ignoring you, it means we don't know. If the only symptoms your bird is displaying are lethargy and not eating, that's not really a lot to go on, and we are not veterinarians. We just don't know what to tell you. You said you also posted in the Emergencies section, and I hope you get help there. We just don't know, and people aren't likely to post and say "I don't know" since it doesn't help or add anything to the discussion. We really aren't ignoring you, we just can't help.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes for my kitty! She had to stay overnight, but they got her fever down and x-rayed her and it looks like an abscess in her jaw, which is much better than a tumor, which was the other possibility. They pulled some bad teeth that they think caused it, and she's on antibiotics. She had to stay the night for observation, but her temperature is almost back down to normal, a huge improvement over 105, and they said she's already acting better.
