NY chicken lover!!!!

I can't eat store eggs I get sick, but I have no problem eating farm eggs or my own chicken eggs. My one coworker is the same way, store eggs get her sick but farm fresh dont.

That's the same reason I started my own flock. I was getting sick from food. Then the more research I do they say you are what you eat EATS....That makes sense. Keep eating those farm fresh eggs!

Good morning, everyone. It's the first day of school here. I'm enjoying the idea of the big kids keeping busy and learning and seeing friends today, but I do miss them. A friend of ours is considering setting some duck eggs, and I'm still considering setting some chicken eggs, so when I borrow the incubator I may end up doing both. Has anyone here done both duck and chicken eggs in the same incubator? Rancher, was it you who mentioned it earlier this summer? I'd just have to set the duck eggs first, right?, so lockdown can all coordinate? Any advice?
I've only hatched duck eggs using Chickens. You idea of starting them earlier than the chicken eggs is very smart. I never would have thought of it.

Right now I've got two hens on eggs. Marans and Delawares. I have no idea why. I figure if I don't keep them someone will take them.

NOW I have to ask, Everyone: When Eric came for the C. Rocks he mentioned that there weren't many chickens for offer on CL. Is that true? I don't buy chickens so wondered about that.

FYI: If I quote you my comments and questions may NOT pertain to you at all or you only. It might not pertain to anyone here. I might just be thinking out loud. Keep in mind that this is an open conversation. Please do not get your knickers in a twist. ( I just like to say Knickers in a twist,

My GD started school today. Her parents are all mush and she's like "goodbye see ya!" Gets on the bus and barely waved.

I feel sorry for her teacher.

I had a friend who stopped by to get eggs, she says her doctor told her no more store bought eggs. I have mentioned Norman who gets sick on store bought eggs before, but can eat mine. What do they do to those chickens that their eggs make folks sick?

CL has some listing for chickens however not a lot. Some don't look very healthy and some look to live in filth. Some however are clean healthy happy chickens. It depends on time of year and area. I won't get birds from just anyone so CL is almost a no go for me. Come spring I will be looking for more girls though, through BYC of course.

Well now I'm not sure I believe we are what we eat, because if we are my SIL is eating *** *****. Cuz he is one! Sorry if that's offensive but I really really really do not like him. These days I'm not sleeping well because of him. He's part of the reason I may have to give up the chickens. We may also have to sell the house and move into an apartment. It's a long story.

Does anyone know if that movie War Room is out? I think I really need to go see it.

In light of current events I advise a closed flock. Hatch your own if you can. Though there are some here I'd take birds from. Be careful and definitely don't bring new birds home unless you have a place and 90 days to quarantine. Though to be honest there are some here I'd buy from and not quarantine very long.

recently bought 2 cockerels from someone here and they are fantastic boys. If possible I plan on getting more from the same individual. She's nice as can be and has a great flock.
