NY chicken lover!!!!

My incubator will be here in less then a week and my girls are slowing way down... Was hoping to hatch some of my own but its looking like they are going to send me searching. Found some Lavender Orpington eggs up north, still trying to convince the other half its worth the drive.

If you wait till spring you can put them outside when they have grown some ..
They dont have to be kept inside where it is warm

That is great that she adjusted so well! I had a sad moment yesterday while counting chickens to lock up. I came up with only 20, so I looked under the roosts to see is someone was down there, and there was Eunice, but very still. She had died probably sometime in the afternoon. She was a character, the one who for at least one full summer hopped the fence to lay her egg next to my basement door.

Sorry for the loss.

Why do chickens cross the road? To be road kill. Stupid Delaware was hit yesterday, came home to her in the road last night. We took the chicken fence down last week in preparation for winter (whenever it arrives). Del was a bully to the younger hens and not laying, so no big loss for us. Still stinks.

Congrats! What's the new job?

I'm going back to masonic medical research laboratory, DNA extraction and genetic screening. They offered me better pay and having normal hours, time flexibility, and family friendly environment are the bonus.

Pyxis---The frizzles are from the eggs you got from me? They are nice!

Ayam Cemanis: anyone on this thread interested in a small breeding group (4 hens & 1 roo)? In 2015 I bought 20 eggs, 16 of them hatched and these are the best 5 of those birds. Roo from different breeder than hens. TMA line from what I've been told. Nice birds, lots of potential. I'm throwing it on this thread bc I'd rather not ship them. Pm me if interested. Thx!
