NY chicken lover!!!!

Congratulations on your new job, Luv. Working in the schools is very rewarding, and gotta love the calendar for being a mom. I am very sorry about your MIL, you must grieve her, and in time things will be better. There is no specific time schedule, but grief is tough. In the mean time, the chickens may have to be chores, enough care to keep them safe and healthy, but perhaps not enough energy to give them the special treatment they like to be accustomed to. Or maybe their antics will lighten your heart. Let us know how it's going. Hug.

Just checking in..Tried to skim over all he 100+ posts that I have missed, but just can't, not into it right now...Welcome anyone new. Sorry if anyone lost anything..

Things here the last month have had ups and downs to epic proportions.. My sister is doing fine now. Her lung is healing up nicely and her baby girl is incubating great. She will be hatching in March and if I'm lucky it ill be on my birthday. I started a new job after Thanksgiving as a Teachers Aid. I really like it. I have been a stay at home mom for 8 years and it is nice to be back to work. I was getting board and lonely being home alone with out the kids during the day.

This weather is driving me nuts Now don't get me wrong I love the nice weather and have been able to get lots done, but looking at the 2 snowmobiles that we got last year just sitting on my porch make me sad that they are sitting there and there is no snow so we can use them..

With this crazy weather it was hard for us to get in the Christmas spirit. Didn't feel much like celebrating then the unthinkable happened. My mother in Law passed away last week and it ruined Christmas for us this year. We tried to make it as positive for our kids (8 and 5) but it was a very sad house here.

I feel bad for my flocks. with working and then with my MIL I haven't felt like doing much with them. I let them out in the morning, make sure they have water and food and lock them up at night. I let out the ducks everyday and the chickens out most days. I just don't feel like doing much. Hoping that having vacation this week will get me back to normal. When I go out I'm getting scolded cause I don't bring out as many treats as they think I should be bringing to them.

Hope everyone is well and Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Good to hear your sister and baby are doing good. Sorry to hear about your MIL. Job is great for a mom, sooo glad my better half has one now, part time (full time right now) but at least she gets some 'adult time'. Stay at home mom for five kids over 13yrs of it, I wouldn't have traded her, now that she's working I have to watch the kids often, 3, 5, 7, 12, 16, they are driving me insane! Mom leaves for work before they go to school, I DON'T do hair! The four in school, all girls....16 yr old has to do their hair. I would have to get out the shop vac and hair ties...I saw vids it works!!!

HELP ! ! I had a bad hatch. :(.............. I ended up with a singleton chick, a bantam Cochin. It needs company, is anyone here willing to sell me a couple of chicks ? It hatched Sunday and is tiny, but tough.

Please pm me if you can help. Thanks :)

I hope you find a couple chicks!

My sliding coop door was frozen this morning after all the rain, so I let the girls out by the back panel I use to gather eggs. When I open the sliding door I can't see into the coop, but this morning I caught one of my girls sleeping in the nesting box. I think it's not a typical thing, because they usually leave four neat little piles of poo under the roost. I don't want a messy nest box. Should I cover it up? Remove it at night for now?

Mine are 6,8,12,14 and 15. I'm sorta a stay at home mom . We as a family help out at a farm on weekends. So my only me time is when I escape to the coop alone.

Hello fellow New Yorkers!

New to the BYC community, and chickens. I introduced myself over at the "New Members" thread but decided to post here as well.

I just moved to the countryside near the town of Ouaquaga (yes, it took me a some time to learn the spelling

) but the location of our new home also places us pretty close to West Windsor and Colesville for those of you who are familiar with the area. It thankfully wasn't a far move as we originally came from around the Binghamton area.
