NY chicken lover!!!!

Yup Gramma, nasty here also. Town and county was cutting brush on the sides of roads last week in t-shirts, today salting roads Lol.
Wonder if the birds will venture out today?
Sitting here planning garden for spring. Anyone ever grow mangels for chickens? Supposed to be equal in nutrition to grain. I think I'll order some from R.H. Shumway's. I can't find any specific nutritional info on mangels themselves though, only that they make excellent stock and chicken feed and grow huge. I can find nutritional info on beets, just doesn't seem like they would be exactly the same.

Not here Grandma. We had nasty wind with freezing on rain all night. Knocked out our electric. This morning it is just all muddy

Hello fellow New Yorkers! :frow

New to the BYC community, and chickens. I introduced myself over at the "New Members" thread but decided to post here as well.

I just moved to the countryside near the town of Ouaquaga (yes, it took me a some time to learn the spelling ;) ) but the location of our new home also places us pretty close to West Windsor and Colesville for those of you who are familiar with the area. It thankfully wasn't a far move as we originally came from around the Binghamton area.
Welcome. I'm in harpursville.

Masonville, Sidney area here, not far. Welcome to BYC!

Welcome, Wildest.
We had sleet freezing rain and snow. Yuck. And I got my first colored egg today. It was from the youngest puller, a little blueish greenish egg! Wasn't even anticipating a color! I will try to edit to add the pic from my phone..

Not 1 chicken has stepped out of the coop today. They looked at me like I was crazy when I opened their window. Guess it's a good thing I keep stocked up on green stuff for them.

I also found one of my neighbors barn rats frozen to death in my field . Poor thing was curled up in a ball tail out straight.

At 2 pm mine still hadn't come out, but they must have gotten thirsty. I just went out and they are huddled under the coop. Wont touch the snow! Too funny.
