Ouch! @bakingintherain
I don't know? Doesn't look good.
My ducks we had spent all winter in neighbors pond, never saw frostbite. I don't know if that's frostbite. Unless it slept all night with one foot up. No others look like that?

Welcome to the thread!
The Clifton Springs people are very friendly when ur calling in an order. Just be very careful about their hidden fees and be ready for them to substitute chicks u ordered when they don't have ur full order. Know ur stuff so they can't take advantage.
I saw those fees. Holy Cats! 1.00 for EVERY mixed breed you get. I'm getting 2 of several breeds and that would be astronomical on top of the fact that they charge another 7.00 under any order below 100 chicks. Say what?! Your better off going in on chicks with someone if your ordering a small flock or going with another breeder who won't charge 10.00 on top of the price to purchase chicks. I can see if you purchase pullets because your paying for upkeep but 7.00 right off the bat and 1.00 for each breed seems pretty steep.

Keep in mind folks I'm a trader, so I will trade for some labor. I got all the tools and it doesn't take long to clean a coop. About two three wheelbarrows full. Or a couple of wheelbarrow fulls from the runs to the compost pile.

I'm not sure where your located or what chores you need done but my husband, 4 year old and I would LOVE to help you! We wouldn't even ask for anything in return. We try to teach our daughter to give without receiving and helping others. While we'd have to work around my husbands schedule at the hospital, we would consider it a pleasure to help!

With some of the milder weather this winter, I was able to get a couple of my runs covered. The recent snow then rain then snow again has certainly put them thru a test. But also created in inverted forest of mini icicles:

Pretty awesome to see though.

Poor baby! I can't see it too well but it's not bumblefoot ?

Welcome to all the newbies! Wow, it took me two days to read all the posts. I hope everyone is doing well. Not much going on here. Everyone has faired well so far in the coop. I'm loving when they talk as soon as they hear us coming. They are so funny!

I'd like to get some white egg layers but I don't want meat, I don't want HUGE and I'm looking for one that will be docile, be kind to the others and lay productively. Can you all throw some breeds out that fit the category please?

@HISIRISHGEM most white egg layers are known to be 'flighty' crazy, not mean but jump and fly and run for not much reason.
One you might want to look into is the Dorking.

are you coming to chickenstock in May? If so I will have some spitzhauben / white leghorn mixes. They lay white eggs and I get 5 most days out of 5 girls. Only 2 days a week do I only get 4. They are a bit small but the eggs are large .
