I thought you weren't getting more chickens!!

They sure got you hooked.
I am not but until I decided give them up I might as well run the incu. Chicks are not so hard find homes for.

@rancher hicksUh huh..... So you say.....

I used to have AT&T for cell service, and never had a problem. No dropped calls, excellent reception. I'd get service when we went camping and no one else with other carriers could. Of course sometimes it was roaming service, but better that than nothing, especially in case of an emergency. I connected to local service in Canada, even in Asia! Of course we don't want to talk about those fees, if I used my cell phone there. But it gave me a certain peace of mind. Now I have T-Mobile cell service, and my calls get dropped if I move from inside the house to outside, and vice versa. Terrible reception in many places. I have one room in my house that I barely get any wi fi or cell phone reception. But I think there's something wrong with that room.

Well my chicks came in this morning and 9 were dead. It was horrible! Others I couldn't tell if they were alive until I touched them. As of now I revived all I could and 2 are still are still weak. I ordered 25 and ideal said that was enough for warmth. Pics to come tomorrow once they've settled in more. So far I only know I got some polish and the others I have no clue the breed.

I made sure the brooder was up and ready. I start all chicks with some sugar water, dunking their beaks in till they take a few sips. Then let them rest. Too the 95 degree is a guide line. I add a thermometer at chick height to make sure it doesn't get too hot. I have not doubt those 250 watt bulbs kill many chicks.

IMO too many time folks ohh and ahh and poke and prod them to death. They are babies and will sleep the first few days.

I wish you well,

I'm so sorry akaruby. Sending prayers for chicks. Please keep us posted. The survivors will be very strong birds. Hugs to u & ur family.

Thank you all. They have electrolytes in the water. Some have really recovered! One did pass away, so 10 total have passed. Three still look pretty weak but I think they'll make it! Just leaving them be under the lamp tonight with paper towels underneath until they get their footing a little better.

I have identified two white created blue polish and 1 Egyptian fayoumi, maybe some EEs. Several look like chipmunks which I know could be a number of breeds.

And only one bar of cell phone service if you place the phone by the window in one of the bathrooms!

Congrats ! You must have ATT ? we had that problem till we got Verizon ...no connection problem unless we go down cellar

We have Tracfone, and this iPhone uses the Verizon network. It's just we're in a valley with lots of hills & mountains between us & the cell tower. Also, in the winter we get better reception, but once the trees leaf out, it's more sketchy.

Sorry you lost some of those chicks. I've ordered from Ideal 2 times. They had good customer service & they refunded my money for those that died. Most commercial hatcheries have guarantees for the first 24 - 48 hours after you get them.

Oh, one other thing, I found this evening one of the chicks stuck inside the bucket feeder, looked almost dead. (Outside brooder) But, it wiggled & was still breathing. Brought it inside & put it in the incubator with the eggs! Left it for awhile, figured I'd find it dead. But, just came into my room & heard peeping. Opened up the incubator & it's looking 90% better! Tough little chick!
