NY chicken lover!!!!

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with either of those gentlemen. I moved out here from Lancaster when I was 19, never went to school out here. I'll ask my younger brothers, the one of them is a serious social butterfly! And yea, the Runnings up here is pretty new and I've examined the food and other chicken things I've gotten from them, everything looks and smells great. I'm sorry that you've not had the same luck at your local store.

My Dad keeps talking about going to Alaska, sounds amazing! And I don't know enough to hatch yet, lol.

Okay, I want to join this thread! I'm about 15 miles from Amsterdam, NY and am picking up my RIR (+ 1 oddball for my Mom) next Thursday and would really like to be able to chat with fellow NYers!

Getting my ladies at the new Runnings store in Gloversville, the girl working there has been so darn helpful.

Welcome to the NY Thread..full of chicken enablers ...

Hey everyone, while working closely with another chicken lady: I traded two silkie chicks for a lovely little Cochin bantam! It's 4 1/2 weeks old and might be self blue or something we will have to wait and see BUT is it a pullet or a rooster?! Here's a pic

Well I bought another set of feed and water dishes today. The only step left to do is order my Cornish cross and my rangers. I'm getting excited now. Plus I need several dozen more layers. I guess I'm in serious need of an incubator now. Gotta go see Larry the feed guy in the morning and see if I can barrow his for a hatch or 2. I need layers because starting memorial day I get to sell my eggs to West Windsor Berries, not a big profit but it means more people get fresh eggs.

Have any of you ordered meat birds from Cackle? They have a great deal on broilers, 100 chicks for $39.00 plus $41.00 shipping. I know my egg girls I'm getting come chickenstock from several of you.

@Chicken girl 15I haven't ordered from cackle but plan on ordering their naked necks for begining of May. Looks like a good place to me.

I must have unknowlingly bid against you then. I was trying for a rare breeds also and then won the Queen Silvia and figured I better not- LOL  Let me know what you get! I love the rare breed assortment because it's like Christmas!

That's how I got into my Isbars and light sussex and barbezieux.  Rare breed assortment!

I already have some bielefelders, bresse, sweedish flowers and legbars from them. I'm hoping to get some barbezieux, nederrheiner and hopefully wyandottes. I will definatly let you know what I get. I agree it's like Christmas, so much fun.

Tsc had (but was out of) Freedom Rangers in Cortland.

No luck on a decent incubator, only the still air LG at TSC. Ordering a HovaBator online right now.

I was going to stop in there yesterday when I was in Cortland, but I was in a hurry and I can be in there for a while just standing there looking at the chicks..then god forbid a fellow chicken lover comes in and we start talking. I can be there for over 30 minutes so I knew I had better not stop...maybe next week.
