NY chicken lover!!!!

@Purpletie3 How big did your
barbezieux get? I thought about getting some when rancher posted a clearance GFF list, they were half price. I thought of getting them when I read they were the third best tasting chicken in the world, better than the bresse. Then I figured I had to find out what that French magazine considered the #1 chicken. Took awhile to find the list, couldn't find it on the American Gault Milloue (spelling?) website, had to go to the French version and Google translate. Figured it would be a rare unheard of unavailable breed, nope!
It was Label Rouge redbro con nu. Pasture raised under specific French guidelines, Naked Necks!
Wish I could afford to get S&G poultry's naked necks, min order is 100, or 15 dozen hatching eggs..

@Chicken girl 15 That's a good deal on cackle's broiler special all large breed roosters. I thought of ordering them to practice caponizing. They were .28cents ea @100 a couple yrs ago. Other hatchery's fry pan special roosters bargains are white leghorns.
S&G poultry sells red rangers 100@ $1.95ea, and what they call 'heritage whites', they're not, they are a slower growing, not as many health issues cornishX, according to reviews I've read. They are 100@ $1.10ea. If they say unavailable just email them, they become unavailable/available, off and on.
They sell hatching eggs 15doz minimum if you can handle that many Lol!

I was going to stop in there yesterday when I was in Cortland, but I was in a hurry and I can be in there for a while just standing there looking at the chicks..then god forbid a fellow chicken lover comes in and we start talking. I can be there for over 30 minutes so I knew I had better not stop...maybe next week.;)

They did have cute little Australorps ;) And of course the silkies. And khaki campbell ducklings.

The hens are normal size...I was wAiting for my tall chicken...lol guess I need a roo. They are in the incubator. Eggs are due in 9 days! Woot woot!

Wouldn't they have tested for toxicity? I do know that plastic "off gases". Which is why it dries out and gets brittle. You should see those milk jugs after a summer in the sun. Shatters like glass.

Too I'd hate to be the one to find out that white plastic chair is on it's last leg. Literally.

I keep saying the TSC near me needs to put in a cafe'. Or at least have a sitting area with free coffee.

Hey, here's a Q.....if I get my 7 RIRs as planned, would it be a problem to add in 1 different breed chick, all the same age? My Ma has announced that she wants a "pet" and I'm thinking that they'd be okay for a bit. Maybe one of those Buff Orphingtons? Or would they hate eachother?
Also they are close in color ...so there should be less problems between them ..
Honestly ..I would get 2 chickens for your mother ..chickens are very much flock animals
Or if you get one for her you should let her raise it ..it will bond with her...
