I'm trying the dry incubation method. Keeping a eye on air cells and weights. See what happens. Threw a few white eggs in for easier candling, polish/giant crosses, Lol.

Sad day! My first hatch trial and none of them made it. The hatcher offered to mail me more for free but I'm bummed. Great learning experience though so I'm switching things up a bit and trying again.
Bummer. ..
This will be my first time using a incubator also. 27 in the Hova-bator. And nine under my volunteer backup plan, 'Miss Growleypants';

Wow those are the longest sprouts I have ever seen..
I'll do the best I can to describe it all.We need some details if you'd like some help.
1. Incubator used?
2. placement of the incubator?
3. Did any eggs develop and how far?
4. Etc. etc.
5. I have a copy of an article on hatching I can email you. Unless you've already read some.
You don't give a location. Perhaps you can get some cheaper eggs to practice on.
Sorry things didn't turn out, but don't give up.
I'll do the best I can to describe it all.
1. It's a big styrofoam one with wiring across the top to heat it. It's pretty big and could probably fit 30 or so eggs.
2. I have the incubator in a back bedroom that is very consistent temp and I keep the door closed so nobody bothers them.
3. 6 of the 7 started to develop but quit early on.
4. I had a shitty thermometer that I didn't trust so I put a different one in and the reading was 106. I panicked and turned them down but I wonder if that was the point that killed them. I ordered a new one so I can hopefully get a more accurate reading or temp and humidity. My sister recommended that I strap a down pillow to my butt and sit on them myself. If my second batch doesn't turn out I may take that advice.
5. I would love more reading material.
I live in Burnt Hills and the hatcher is sending me more for free, but next time I'm finding local eggs instead.
Quote: Could be turning it down ...didnt help .
A chickens body temp is quite warm ...in the adult chicken the variability is between 105°F and 107°F
so a hens skin on the eggs ..would be slightly lower.
The body temperature of a newly hatched chick is about 103.5°F
Did you know shipped eggs are supposed to settle before you incubate them ?
That was one of my mistakes
