NY chicken lover!!!!

I have 2 pav's coming from GFF. Not even sure what color yet. I was thinking of not keeping them but you guys seem to really like them. If they are a sweet bird my sons may want to keep them, still not sure though. What is it you like about the breed?

This is my first time having them. I love their look. They have been cold hardy and energetic. Mine are only 10 weeks old though.

Came home from work to a chick break out- two of the three had squeezed out and were hanging out terrifying the big girls. It was pretty funny, really. The four hens would squack and run every time the chicks got near them.

I put the third one into the main run too, but after half an hour or so I did notice that one chick had a bit of dried blood on her face. I cleaned her up and got the three chicks more securely settled into their sectioned off area. They're doing great. Maybe I'll do a little supervised visitation daily- even though I know at least one chick got a peck on the face, I didn't see any pecking going on.

The broody wasn't happy with the spitz being added to her Eglu, so put her with the remaining 2 chicks in the main coop. Everyone is roosting in the coop but looks like the chicks are on their own now.

My cemani boys are out of quarantine! And I may have to move my WH drakes. I planned to split them out of the cemani coop anyway as soon as I get my poultry settled wherever it is they're going to end up after my move but I might have to do it early because they are harrassing the cockerels and quite possibly keeping them from mating. I've only seen them staying up on the roost to stay away from the drakes and not down mingling with the hens. If the drakes aren't done bugging them by tomorrow they're getting moved.

Sad day! My first hatch trial and none of them made it. The hatcher offered to mail me more for free but I'm bummed. Great learning experience though so I'm switching things up a bit and trying again.

Bummer. ..
This will be my first time using a incubator also. 27 in the Hova-bator. And nine under my volunteer backup plan, 'Miss Growleypants';

I think my taters might be ready for the ground..

Lol! I have a bag like that also, a store bought bag with the screen in front, tore off some eyes getting them out. I don't plant taters until late. That way the hungry tater beatle bugs go elsewhere, neighbors, wherever, and leave mine alone...

We need some details if you'd like some help.

1. Incubator used?

2. placement of the incubator?

3. Did any eggs develop and how far?

4. Etc. etc.

5. I have a copy of an article on hatching I can email you. Unless you've already read some.

You don't give a location. Perhaps you can get some cheaper eggs to practice on.

Sorry things didn't turn out, but don't give up.
