NY chicken lover!!!!

was making sure all my chickens put themselves to bed and I am missing my 4 week old gull! I don't see any feathers on the ground, literally no sign of attack. It happened between 7-8:30 when I let them out on the yard. There's a 6 foot privacy fence and I don't think she could fly that high yet. I looked in the lower tree branches and all around my house...nothing. Then I let my dogs out with me and they didn't see the chick either.

What could have gotten a 4 week old without a trace? Hawk? I hope she's just hiding somewhere but still I thought my dogs could sniff her out. :(

A hawk could have done it or maybe an early owl :( Don't give up hope that she's just hiding somewhere or in a tree though.

Had some birds once not go in. Found a C.Rock on top of the hoop coop once. The Daisy Roo on the windshield of our van once. Once had a Dominique disappear, only to show up the next morning walking down the outside of our fence.

Too there was a the Barred Rock hen that would not go in, but be gone each evening and show up in the morning. The rooster was too hard on her and she had a nasty wound. I gave her away. AND once had a hen who would not go in and I tossed her in each evening. One morning she was dead in the coop. That rooster was horrible. Attacked me more than once til the day he died.

My EE's jump the fence now and then.

Anyhow glad your girl showed up.

Thanks! I had never had a chick so young fly that high. I was actually backing out of my driveway last night when I saw her scurry across. Luckily got her quick and put her in the coop. Had me scared!
