It is about 40 minutes from me also (in northern Columbia co) I will have about 9 chickens to get processed. Can you let me know your thoughts after it is done?

I am near there, but I do my own chickens. Wonder what they charge for turkeys?

they said $8 per turkey.

Thanks for the link! We're seriously considering raising a hog or two, and I was wondering if there were any local processors. I'm also toying with the idea of doing a batch or two of colored broilers of some sort, and wouldn't be averse to having them done professionally, as I'm (a) lazy and (b) have weird work schedules.

Raising a hog? My 12 yo DD and I watched the "Pig Bomb" show on Animal Planet last night and now she want to go hog hunting. The girl has never shot a real gun in her life. She seems to think I want to go too.

I don't know. I have never hunted anything in my life except for a great sale at the mall.

I'm in no rush to get started on this little bit of high adventure.

Has anyone heard of the cock-fighting, pot-growing bust in Fonda. Those poor birds. Here is a link to the news.

It's a terrible thing to encourage those birds to fight and then to put sharp instuments on their legs to make it more deadly.
