Hey guys what's your opinion on if a mama hen will adopt more newly hatched chicks after hers are already a week old?
Hi fellow New Yorkers! I'm new to BYC and to chickens. My first chicks will arrive next week (mixed flock of 25: Andalusians, Polish, Delawares, Dominiques, RIR, Wyandottes, Orpingtons, Faverolles). This site has been fantastic for getting prepared. I'm in Uster County.
Thanks for the Welcome Gramma Chick!
Thanks!!Welcome!
All day old chicks we're starting with. At first it was going to just 8 or so for our yard and for our son's 4H poultry project and well ... now we have 25 chicks coming. We have a couple people interested in taking some though and we figured there would be a couple potential losses.Your Welcome ..chickens are fun ...that is a lot to start out with at 1st .
All Pullets ?
.Hello and welcome. I drive right up 81 everyday for work. I live in Oswego so only about an hour away from you. I know a guy that has chickens that is in Watertown.
I have an order in for BLRW from chickenhill poultry. They should be here end of this month or early next. I'm sure I will end up with extra Roos since they are straight run. I plan to grow them all out before I make any decisions on who's a keeper.Blue Laced Red Wyandotte people,
does anyone have a BLRW roo? or expect to have one as the result of any hatches? I think horsekeeper, Tab, and BeauGarden
mentioned them but it was awhile ago and I'm not certain!
- BLRW people getting eggs or chicks - do you have a website of where you are getting them from, so we can check it out?
- Chicks = would they be straight run?
