Recently I've been on here checking out new chick threads, and threads of people hatching eggs. Now I find myself looking how to build incubators and looking at different breeds.
My wife even asked me the other day if I was going to build a bigger coop.

Jim,
I started out two years ago with a small coop and 32 chicks, 25 freedom rangers for the freezer and 6 buff orpingtons to raise for layers. I currently have 4 turkeys, 10 layer hens and a rooster. This year I have about 300 chicks on order. These critters are like Pringles, once you start, you can't stop.

Hello, I'm JK from the Hudson Valley area near west point. I have a flock of 10 hens 2 roosters and 8 chicks growing out in the brooder. I mainly have cochin bantams but just got buff orpington bantam chicks and porcelain d'uccle bantams. Glad to see a lot of New Yorkers on the site

I have a good sized hatch due this week and had a buyer just back out please lmk if anyone is looking for some chicks these are all breeder/show quality potential chicks pm me for more info some of the eggs are from other BYCer's others from different breeders around the country. I also have a few older grow out chicks. Should have cream Legbars, Marans, orps, leghorns, SFH and possibly Russian Orloffs. As well as some pure Ameraucana. I'm located near Saratoga and offer local meet up. I should also have some for chickenstock that I could hold and bring then as well

I've built two incubators. The second was way better than the first. Let me know if you have any questions.

I haven't updated this in a year, but here's some notes.

Its worse than any hobby ive ever had. We started with 8 and now have over 200 and that's just chickens. We are about to order 40 turkey and 100 more chicks.
I'm pretty sure my fiancé would leave me or throw me in the Hudson river if I had that many birds lol. although we have 10 hens 2 roosters 4 guinea fowl 2 mallard ducklings 8 chicks and over 30 eggs in the incubator and 2 runner ducklings to be picked up Thursday and 4 turkey coming in april... oh man we may have over 200 in a couple years.... :D I'm okay with that lol
