Yah, well, I FEEL ok, but just sound horrible. Managed to get one bi-annual coop cleaning completed, so that's something.
If I get fired from work for two sick calls in one week, I'll have to get more chickens.
Today, however, I DID go to to work and got sent home so that doesn't count, right?
Funny story.. well, not so funny.. but cautionary .. Sunday night two cops show up and ask us if we have a laptop.. or if anyone we know has recently gotten a laptop.. or if some weird person is staying in our barn with a laptop.. Umm.. no.. We do have laptops, but we've had them a while. We finally got out of them that they have a location of the laptop and it's at OUR HOUSE. Yikes! Now naturally we didn't steal any laptops. Cop goes away..
Two days later three big guys show up (I am here alone) telling me that their grandma's laptop is at our house.. I am calm and say 'umm no..' then they start quizzing me if I know various people, none of which I know.. Then it comes out that they KNOW who stole it and that person might be staying with his grandma.. Now I am no spring chicken, but I am not old enough to be a grandma to a 25 year old. Anyways they start blathering about a warrant and I pretty much say 'bring it on' (since I know we don't have it).
My DH calls the police all in a tizzy threatening lawyers and such because the police allowed the goon squad to know where we live, but we find out that the address was given to the police by the people owning the computer AND it was based on wifi geolocation, NOT GPS - this means anyone who pinged our very strong wifi server and it could not only be anyone in quite a large radius but heck the guy could have been within the radius and shut the laptop off and left. Police say we are in the clear.. but I am keeping an eye out for the folks looking for the laptop, that's for sure..!
So just be cautionary - even if your wifi is using proper security, it can still be used as a 'ping' for a geolocator and someone's laptop could end up in YOUR house. bleh!
