I'm not a great cook, so I shake and bake them. They really have a stronger and nicer flavor then the ones from the store. It's like the difference between buying a can of grated romano cheese or grating it yourself from a brick of ramano. Once you have the hand grated stuff, you never want to go back to the "sawdust" can of grated cheese.

So...I am now an official egg and chicken meat snob.

Sure will! My sister who has raised meaties before said that the roosters tasted terrible! I don't have cull hens yet so I will only have cockerels to eat. Aren't we all egg snobs here?

My meaties were fabulous tasting, hens and roos, (or should I say pullets and cockerals). Young cockerals are good any way you fix them. Old mean roosters need to go into a pot of water for a few days, then remove the bones...fantastic chicken dumplings. Otherwise, older roosters are tough and gamey

Hi, I saw a few of us there, Tab & husband, Renee, MJ, I think that is alll....I entered a BC Marans pullet who took BOB, so that was nice.
Not too many chickens there, it was disappointing. 1 blue Orpington, no others, mostly banties & ducks..
For a show that has 5 clubs sponsoring it, it was pretty dismal.

My husband works in utica. There are plenty of us nice chicken people nearby and even more not so close!
DH and I were at the show yesterday. We were the ones chasing 2 little blond girls around the place. There wasn't as many birds there as in the past but the girls enjoyed seeing the ones that were there. We saw and met some really nice people.

I won apples at the chicken show's chinese auction. The girls today just had to "help" me make a pie. When we were done they looked like I could fry them up because they were so coated in flour.
