I know, I know. That's why I'm crying. Maybe in the spring I'll buy some eggs from you

Hi all !

New to BYC and to chickens too.

We live just north of Utica, NY

I just got a couple of birds but I'm looking for a few more....Delawares if I can find them.

What great fun this BYC is ! I spend hours and hours here but it's all fun time.

Nice to meet you all

Next I have Del hens if you'll pay $10 ea. I lowered the price cuz to be honest, I'm old and just don't want to have to deal with all of them. More than that, I want to order chicks from Green Fire. So I'm saving money to do so. These girls were born in Dec. and are laying large eggs. I do have a hen sitting on eggs but I don't think things will turn out well. To many other hens the coop and they're laying in there even though there are 5 more nest boxes. I will move her but she needs some room to get up and move and being a large bird that mean more room. I have a kiddie pool that I didn't want to have to use again but I may too.

Anyhow that's what I've got.

Really I dropped in to say hi to everyone.

take care and enjoy the cold yuk weather,

Rancher

Hello Rancher,

Very nice to meet you. I actually went to the poultry show in Syracuse this morning and I was told I should look for you !

Rancher I'll be more than glad to give you 10 bucks for a Delaware hen ! I'm very new to chickens so I do have a question. ( though I'll be more than glad to buy the hen now matter the answer )

You said the girls were born in December. So I 'm wondering for how long I might expect them to continue laying ?

Also I'm driving thru Syracuse tomorrow to go to Seneca Falls to pick up two other pullets. Might it be possible on my way back to Utica to stop in Syracuse, meet you and buy a bird or two from you ?

If so I wonder if I could get a phone number or some other means of getting in touch with you ?

Thank you ,

Lille

I will be processing my cockerels a few weeks.. Any favorite recipes you would like to share?

I'm not a great cook, so I shake and bake them. They really have a stronger and nicer flavor then the ones from the store. It's like the difference between buying a can of grated romano cheese or grating it yourself from a brick of ramano. Once you have the hand grated stuff, you never want to go back to the "sawdust" can of grated cheese.

So...I am now an official egg and chicken meat snob.
