Hi NYers! It's been a very long time since I've been here!

I live in Tully, south of Syracuse, for the last three years, and have been able to have a small backyard flock (currently three hens) in accordance with local law. Well, the mayor who was responsible for Tully allowing chickens, has moved away, and they just announced (literally a few days after she left) that they are holding a special meeting to discuss chickens in town. Which of course means they want to do away with having them.
There are very few folks in town who have chickens (including myself I know of three), so I'm worried there will be no one showing up in support of keeping things as they are. The negative voices are always so loud...
So anyway, if any CNY friends would be available to show up in support of keeping chickens legal in Tully, the meeting will be this Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 7 pm at the Municipal Building on Meeting House Road.
Any support or advice would be greatly appreciated. Living in Tully has been a miserable experience, and I have considered having chickens one of the few positives... Thanks in advance for reading. Dorothea

Ugh! I can't be there but my thoughts are with you. The usual reasons are pests (rats), disease and noise.
There is a ton of articles on the web addressing those 3 things. I suggest that you arm yourself with information regarding those issues. I would think the onus is on folks to prove there is a problem - but who knows? :hugs:fl

Hey guys! This is my little easter egger (I think) Berniece - I am hoping it's a little lady but she's starting to look more like a Bernie to me :/ if anyone has any insight and can tell by looking please let me know what you think!

Thank you!

Thanks boskelli! I'm definitely trying to get some information together before Wednesday.

Is anyone else going to the Cobleskill poultry show on the 24th? I'm going to check it out :) Looks like it's going to be fun.

My job is youtube I get paid thats just enough to feed my birds so where my garden is I wanna start seperating my chickens by breeds to have pure breeds
Sounds like a Good Plan .
Love your pictures ...Pretty chickens . I buy pure breeds and they all blend together .
I love that you never know what you will get from the mix ( like a box of chocolates )
Depending on what kind of bedding you use you could put that on the garden to nourish it . I use natural stuff grass , leaves , pine needles ..which decomposes and is great for the garden .
I used to have a garden when we 1st moved here ..23 years ago
but with working full time ..and kids ...it got to be too much ..
then 5 years ago we got chickens and started thinking about eating better ..
Organic / non GMO Food ..and growing things for chickens
Im now retired except for my Ebay Business ..and the garden and the chickens keep me active and strong ..( I am 61 ...) As well as Yard work , Etc

I think it is a pullet ..the color is even ...It may be too early to tell though .
How is it acting when you hold it like that ...is it fighting you ?
It doesnt look like it is ...at all . I would say a pullet

Did a head count last night, since I no longer knew how many chickens I owned: 25 adults, 12 July chicks, 10 two week old chicks. Plus a Lemony Snickett that decided she rather just live in the garage than integrate into a flock.
