I think I might have figured out a way to prevent them from getting head wet when drinking. I filled up their summer plastic water jug ( to hold it down) and put it in the filled heated water dish. I saw a man on another forum do something similar to prevent his ducks from sticking their head in the water and getting it dirty. Hopefully this works because the heated poultry water container are expensive and don’t have very good reviews. Who designs a water container to be filled from the bottom.

Yes I will keep a close eye on it to be sure nothing going wrong. I’m out there a minimum of 3 times a day so I’ll bring my water jug each time and top it off.

Love it, so cute. I have a trail like that going from the garage to the coop. After our big 3 foot dump last week I opened the pen door and was going to let them walk the trail while I cleaned up and turned bedding. They went to the threshold and stopped. They were not having any of it.

Oh goodness, it would take a lot. These are buttons, which are very, very small. Mostly I'll be selling eggs for hatching or to reptile owners to feed their reptiles. I'm going to be getting a species of snake that eats only eggs, so the eggs from these guys will be its food.

Buttons are mostly ornamental in purpose
