NY chicken lover!!!!

LOL I went to college with a couple from Smithtown, we used to make drinks called "long island sewer systems" in their honor!

ChickenStalker,
The 3week old ameraucanas and the marans are from Susan (AHappyChick)
I also have a 9 week old from her, but PQ. and is up for sale, would be good for an olive egg project.

I also have 5 - 7week old chicks (2roo +3pullets) from Oberhaslikid. Very dark eggs. Her stock consists of a Ron Presley roo and a Wade Gene roo in with TGCole Hens.
I was planning on keeping, 1 roo and 3 pullets, but it would be good to trade. Inbreeding is never a good idea.

We could meet 1/2 way for lunch!

Good Morning, happyhens,ny!!!!
I'm also not too far from you!!!! I'm in Ellenville(Ulster County).......about an hour and 50 minutes from Albany. I have a friend who lives in Kinderhook, which is somewhere out there by you.

ancona 91 - Kinderhook is about 40 min south of me. Close enough!

Mom2munchkins - wish I had some extras right now - will have some in the late summer for sale though. Various breeds.

Hi everybody!
Hope everyone is dealing with the weather alright. I just wish it would make up it's mind, lol.
Sorry I don't have any extras at the moment. The new babies are doing just fine.

Here they are at one week old

This is them at two weeks. You can see how much they've grown by looking at the thermometer in the background. Looks like about 50* to me.
BTW: Does anybody know anything about genetics? I was wondering what I can expect from leghorn, comet and partridge rock moms crossed with comet dad. Any ideas?

OK

Need some help from fellow NY CHicken people

My chicks are now 6 weeks old - can I put them in the coop outside with the big girls?? is it still to cold?? They'd be in their own isolated section of the coop (not directly in contact with the other girls for a while) - I could put a heat lamp in there - they were hatched on February 23 and are starting to feel a little cramped in their double wide dog crate
