Me too, my windows in my 6 coops on one side of the barn all were at the curb, being thrown away. Work fine in a coop!

x2 or should I say x3
Our coop windows are from curb side. We've also put a couple old doors to use down in the barn. The good thing about free scrounged materials is that we've been able to make things that we otherwise couldn't afford.

Ok, now I have to put a garden cart on my wish list, if that's what it takes to get *him* to do outdoor chores. If I had known it was THAT easy I would have bought one a looong time ago.

I was amazed!

It's like watching a kid with a new toy.

I'm going to love this cart when I clean the metric ton of pine shavings out of the coop in the spring. I have a couple of trees and bushes that need to be mulched, and pre-fertilized shavings will do nicely.

He's also a fan of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore over in Pittsfield. The coop doors came from there for a few bucks apiece. Here's a handy-dandy list of NYS locations:

Cass you got a quick glance at our place. 90% of anything you saw was scrounged or DIRT cheap. 3 coops, 95% scrounged materials. Even the vinyl siding on one coop, and on my wifes shed was free roadside. I'm cheap, and a scrounge and proud of it!

Ooo. A garden cart. I need one of those. I think I'll have to get one. We have a lawn tractor with a cart, but it's not worth the hassle. I get all my feed delivered now and moving 10 50# bags into my barn from my driveway is no fun.

I have to admit I suck at finding used lumber but we did build two of our coops from structures already on the property - one from a kids play thing and the other from a horse run-in. I bought my windows on ebay after the cheapie windows we found just weren't doing the job.

My DH is never home but if I managed to scrounge something up he'd be quite proud of me.

oh, I forgot.. we DID reuse a bunch of doors in building one of our coops. If anyone is in the area and wants a pile of crappy old doors, we have more!!

We left some by the curb and it took forever for someone to take them.

This is ours: http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2295793 He almost didn't get it, as a couple of his misguided buddies told him not to give women work-related gifts. The heck with that - I'd rather have the useful items!

Speaking of new items, I think my fridge is on its last legs - the fan has been acting up, and it's in there making noise again. Grr. Oh, well - I've been coveting a French door fridge lately anyway. More room for eggs.
