NY chicken lover!!!!

Cass,
Are some of the black hens Lav splits? With the Lav roo you can make lav from the splits.

I only have Lav Ameruacana hens, so I will have Lav and split chicks. Assuming they ever start laying real size eggs, that is. The lav hens just started laying and haven't ramped up to full size eggs. I have Lav and Black Ameruacana roos. No other breed of roos....LOTS of other breeds of hens.....

I really want to hatch eggs of my white brahma with my black roo as the daddy....Cuz my black roo is HUGE and the hen is also large....should yeild me large to XL blue or green eggs.

Tigrlilly: Sorry to hear of your decision to sell your birds including your projects. I know that you and your DS have lots of time, work and energy invested in them. It is tough to have allergies to something that you love and you love to do.

It's all nasty wind and snow here this morning.

Time to go to work.

Oh, and Welcome to all the new peeps! :)

Nova I'm new to this site also and I have to say these folks are great. Good luck

Wow, Thanks So much guys! I can't believe the feedback I've gotten so far, it has been so helpful. I will hopefully be going to AJ Farms Domani Ranch within the week! I'm waiting to hear back from them and will keep you updated. Thanks So So much!

All this talk of the Finger Lakes, Auburn, Seneca Falls really makes me home sick. I haven't lived in Ithaca in 27 years but it will always be home and I really miss it.Talked to a friend just the other day and she recommended a reunion this summer; I can't wait.

Queen,
Yes, you would enjoy a trip up here after so long. Right now, like today, you might not like it too much...today it is really winter! But summer is wonderful! And one of the best changes in the Finger Lakes over the last 25 years is the number of new wineries that have sprung up, each Lake has a wine trail, it is really fun and all the vineyards make the area even prettier.

They are calling this snow showers, but it is quite white. I just took Irene to her new home, and I think she will be fine there. It is a lovely clean, rustic coop, and all the chickens were beautiful and well cared for. The young lady was very nice, friendly, tuned in to her chickens and clearly loves each one. I am so grateful to her. And she said I could visit Irene!

On the way there Route 20 was challenging, but the plows had been working and coming home was better. I bet normal roads are not so bad.
