NY chicken lover!!!!

Be careful out there, happycountryhens!

(Don't mean to pick, but isn't it ironic that you risk driving in this weather to "maintain" your health?)

Oh my goodness, you made me laugh - good thing I wasn't drinking milk, it would have come out my nose!

Yeah, you are right, but I am such a procrastinater at making appointments that cancelling one usually means I will next think about making it again in six months. Day off plus appointment equals go! (Actually, I thought the road would improve while I was in town. Instead they got worse.)

Made a snow trail. One RIR tried it out.

So now the partridge rocks are doing a 9 month moult and the other girls are pecking at them. Put some black salve on it the wounds, but I will probably have to go out and seperate them this afternoon. Had running around to do this morning and still a little shakey from the drive. Roads are awful up here on the hill and are just getting worse with all the snow coming down. If it wasn't a doctor appt, I wouldn't have gone.

Anyway, hope everyone is having a good day so far.

First let me say that the pullet made it here alive. That's good new.

Second, I was going to order some partridge rock chicks from Paul Harter but then he told me they weren't a big seller and this is the last year he's going to sell them. I decided not to and just order all Del chicks.

Wow, you guys all seemed to get snow! Over here in 'further' western NY, it's just been sloppy slush and then rain today. I'd actually prefer the snow! Don't have any chickens yet to protest.

I booted a couple of mean hens out the coop door and they were back in before I could turn around and get out of the coop myself. However they stopped picking on the little one. Darn mean hens....the little one can't help it's size. I did notice that "the little one" was bigger than the D'uccles however....I may have to rename it. LOL

8 have hatched, there are 31 left. All look fine so far. Peeping and cheeping!

Hurry up chickies. I'm coming for you on Saturday.

(I only have 2 blue eggs so far, but am storing them as hatching eggs and will bring them with me. Who knows maybe they'll both hatch and your daughter will have her choice of Ameraucanas for this summer)
