NY chicken lover!!!!

Okay NY folks, I need some help, and my Google powers aren't yielding me much!

I greatly desire some raw milk from 'happy' cows kept humanely and cleanly, or raw goat milk, but am having a really hard time finding it locally or even semi-local. I've been told that NY's laws regarding raw milk have made it so that many farmers are a bit hush-hush if they offer it (frustrating!). If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd be tremendously appreciative. I live in South-Western NY, Cattaraugus County, near Portville. Any leads would be fantastic!

I am not in a position to keep dairy, nor goats, so I cannot explore those avenues. I would happily pay for raw milk of course, or trade my organic, soy-free eggs for it.

Hurry up chickies. I'm coming for you on Saturday.

(I only have 2 blue eggs so far, but am storing them as hatching eggs and will bring them with me. Who knows maybe they'll both hatch and your daughter will have her choice of Ameraucanas for this summer)
There are 11 out as of now. 2 hatched with a bit of yolk sac still out then one popped. Left a mess all over. Leave it be or take it out? It seems fine otherwise. Any ideas why that would happen?

As for the Mom & kids vacation, we decided to go to Assateague Park in Maryland this summer. Wild ponies, camping on the beach, biking, kayaking. Cool stuff.

we colored brown and blue/green ee eggs last year.

but we had "paints" i cant remember what kind of kit we had but it was a paint instead of dip.

also i read there is a way to dye your eggs using silk ties. you wrap your egg in the silk tie and boil them and the dye from the tie will go onto the egg shell...

i will try to find the link.

Nambroth,
I have pygmy goats, but haven't been able to milk them for any extra other than my family. I would suggest to check out dairy goat breeders and Nigerian dwarf breeders. Contact those breeders and they may have some available or know who does?
I know of a raw dairy milk farmer in Clifton Springs, but that surely is a drive for you.
Found this link too, maybe a starting point? http://www.dairydirect2you.com/milk-NY.aspx
Good luck!
Sarah

Mee - Love the look of the silk tie dyed eggs but she says at the bottom that they should not be eaten! Argh! No silk tie colored eggs for us unless we blow the egg out first.

Correct. Fabric die is not "food safe" and eggs are porous, so you can't eat them. Blown eggs is an alternative however.

When do the auctions usually start up? I need to buy some hatching eggs and prefer not to pay shipping... I found some locally but they aren't really what I want. THANKS!
