Why would I? More importantly why would you? What is it you're looking for? IMO hatcheries are chicken mills. What do they do with all the unsold chicks, I wonder??

Quote: Dont do it, they will go into a molt! I start to lessen the light on the timer when it corresponds to what I've been giving them. I usually change the timer to go on later as the daylight increases, until the daylight is equal to the time my lights are on. I decrease the light time accordingly until I can turn them off completely. If you suddenly turn your lights off, they will think is time to molt, and you don't want that.. Hens need 15 hours of daylight for laying well.
I would be so frustrated! Hopefully my babies will be the correct breed! I actually ordered some red sex link and white leghorns also ( not that we don't have enough leg horns already! My husband loves them for some reason!)I bought from that hatchery just about a year ago, I really wanted some Buff Orpington chicks for my broody to raise. I drove up there, they grabbed the sweet little yellow chicks and I took them home. The bill of sale says Buff Orpington. When they got older, they just didn't look like BOs, I called the hatchery, they said oh yes, it's just genetics, sometimes they don't get that buff color right away. When they were fully grown I called again. They remarked again about genetics, instead of telling me that they were really red sex links that they had sold me by mistake. I become angry whenever I think of them. If someone can't admit that they made a mistake, I don't think highly of them, and I will mention my experience when asked. No way, no how are these buff Orpingtons, and to make it worse, One of them is my egg eater, just by chance...in all fairness, they probably had nothing to do with the egg eating, unless that is contained in their faulty genetics. Sorry, will stop hyperventilating now. OHMMMM, OHMMMM.

{_}_{_}_{_} shuddering{_}_{_}_{_} I, personally, won't buy from hatcheries again. JMHO.Why would I? More importantly why would you? What is it you're looking for? IMO hatcheries are chicken mills. What do they do with all the unsold chicks, I wonder??
We did buy several ducks and several chickens from them early last year. New into poultry, so we didn't know much, but would NEVER do business with them again. Our ducks were fine, but we ordered several red sex links just to get to the minimum of 6. They went with a box and brought us back the closed box. We didn't look at them since we didn't want them escaping the box. Got home and 2 of the chickens were SO scraggly looking it was sad. Half the feathers missing. They did lay eggs, but with deformed and rough shells. I practically gave them away. I also didn't care for the personalities of the guys who ran the place. Everything was "In God's name", but they just came across as fast talkers. We also were charged over-the-top prices (I know, our fault), but was even charged $2 for the box they put the birds in. Really? Would NOT recommend them. It's A&j farms but the website is poultryhatchery.com. Thousands of people order from hatcheries everyday. It's next to impossible to find the breeds you want locally. I have been trying to find Light Brahmas with no luck. I ordered some from the hatchery. I researched before ordering and the unsold chicks or the ones with defects get used for rendering.
